McCourty said he looks forward to taking Dugger under his wing. Also isn't Adrian also a SS. Sounds like Dugger may be FS

Ideally, our safeties would be able to play both roles. Dugger certainly has the physical skillset to excel in either role, with more potential to contribute early as a SS. It's unclear to me which role Phillips is more familiar with, but some safeties are just safeties. Harmon might have had the skillset of a FS, but that didn't stop us from starting him alongside McCourty whenever Chung went down.

Either way, no bad can come from Dugger learning from McCourty, who certainly knows the intricacies of any role a safety might find himself in on the Patriots.

He has the measurables/skill set (at least at the collegiate level) to man both FS/SS spots. Excited for the kid. Hope he can be an Adrian Wilson (AZ) type.

Adrian Wilson

To state the obvious, draftees are drafted primarily for future value. In 2021, likely gone will be ALL three of our top 2019 safeties on the best secondary in the league. We badly needed a safety.

Duggar is likely to play a lot in 2020. That is just gravy.

Good value if they're good. If they're Jordan Richards or Cyrus Jones or any McDaniels pick excluding a Scar-OLine pick, are a huge waste at 2M/yr

It should be a big red flag when most of his highlights are returning punts. Even worse when the first word describing him is “raw”.

Did you happen to see where he played? Dumb comment.

Yeah only big time colleges produce good NFL players. Keep on saying dumb things though.
Odds are in my favor seeing how many times BB has whiffed in the 2nd round.

Why don’t you go back to saying dumb things in the kicker thread.
Lol. Like how I was right? If the 3% tattoo wasn’t a big deal, he’d do nothing.

He needs the media off of his back. You don’t know how the game works.

Yeah. Sure. Pfft. Whatever you say... Master BATES.

From Division II to the Patriots: Inside Kyle Dugger's...

Howe says that the Panthers, who had the pick immediately following where the Patriots took Dugger, sent every member of their front office to the Lenoir-Rhyne campus last season. They took the other small school safety later in the second round, and he's their projected starter. Sure looks like the Patriots had a pretty good idea that they would be in danger of losing Dugger if they waited any longer.

Who the hell cares if the Pats, Bills, Steelers and Panthers all love him as a player? Why didn't Howe mention that Patsfans.com poster TheRainMaker thinks that it was a dumb pick. After all, he has watched several poor quality YouTube videos of him. Amirite?

That was a really good article by Howe today....explained why he took 6 years in college (grew his frame in the weight room, transferred skills from basketball to football, redshirted two years, lost a year to injury, and majored in engineering and physics...)

The articles saying he could have started at a SEC school, yea of course, that wouldn't be enough to be a 37th overall pick

Troy Brown was also a small school engineering/computer major. Just saying.
