Peyton as next Colt's GM?

I know people will point to the Elway comp as evidence that Peyton could be a successful GM, but that undersells the amount of work that Elway put in before he became GM. It didn't just happen, he worked hard to become a strong evaluator of talent, completely independent of his time spent being a QB.

Here's a pretty good article summarizing it: How John Elway made a successful front-office transition.

He was previously the CEO of an Arena league team, he won AFL executive of the year, and acknowledges that this is where he basically learned to work in a football FO, and even then he was still out of his depth and spent his early time with the Broncos acknowledging how little he knew and seeking advice. Somehow I doubt Manning would do the same.
Thanks for the article.

I think some of the suggestions people make for coaches/GM's are often times lazy. People too often think that just because a player was great on the field that's he's going to be great in a coaching/front office role. This is definitely not true.

Some of the all-time great coaches were never great players. Belichick, for example. He never played in the NFL, and basically jumped into low-level coaching when he was in his 20's. Tony La Russa was basically a forgettable utility player that had only a brief stint in MLB. Phil Jackson was a basically a role player. These are some of the most iconic coaches in sports history, and none of them were great players.

You often hear the sentiment that great players don't necessarily make great players, because they were able to thrive off of natural talent. Often times, the truly great coaches are the one that lacked the natural talent, and had to truly focus on studying and refining the mechanical nuances of the game to stand any chance. Obviously having a great work ethic and being naturally talented aren't mutually exclusive, but there's still a lot of merit to the ideas I mentioned in the previous sentences.

I live in the Bay Area so I hear a lot of 49ers news. Now that they're looking for a new coaching staff. I can't help but roll my eyes at some of the suggestions I hear ("let's bring in Steve Young as general manager, Jerry Rice as wide receivers coach...").

I wanted to find some weird alien music like The Outer Limits TV 60's series had to go with this.

Seriously, I've tried to explain the forehead difference between 1995 and 2015 and the receding hairline just does not explain it.

Our resident St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams troll claimed that it was obvious to someone with his professional expertise that the 2015 picture was photoshopped. He never offered any explanation or evidence to back up this claim, so I guess our options are to just believe the photoshop explanation (even though a non-photoshopped version doesn't seem to exist) or maybe Peyton's treatment's at the Guyer Institute played a role.

"I'll take the job, but only if I can still shill for Papa John's. That garbage pizza isn't going to sell itself, you know."

If Manning becomes the Indianapolis GM, the Colts helmets, jerseys, field and participation banners are going to covered in Papa John's, Bud Light, and Nationwide logos.

Common Growth Hormone Side Effects

Acromegaly: This is a condition characterized by excessive bone growth in the body, most notable in the hands, feet, jaw (mandible), and forehead.

Why would anyone go to work for a crackhead?

It's freaking simple: that's what happens when your mother and father are sister and brother. They can't help it. It's just the way they were raised. Give them credit: at least they moved on from farm critters...

Just because one can throw a football doesn't mean one can be a GM or COO of a major business. Elway had many other jobs after being a QB before he becoming a GM.
