Peter King doesn't think Pats will run the table

After all the shltty comments from various corners so far this year, I can guarantee that if there is any chance of obtaining a record or going undefeated, BB will go for it.

There isn't a big deal at all about playing the starters the entire Giant game either since there is a bye week after it if the W-L record holds up.
Well, yeah, but the fear is multi-week, or season ending injuries.

He wouldn't predict which remaining team would beat them, but the first one he mentioned was Baltimore at Batimore on Monday night. Said it's crazy loud in there and you don't know what could happen. Next was Pittsburgh the following week (short week) at home, and then the Giants game also at home in the final regular season game. Don't know how long Belichick would play the veterans in that one is the reason for that potential upset. I think he got ahold of some bad oysters or mushrooms or something and has lost his mind. Baltimore?

I personally think that he is right about this. I don't think that they will run
the table either. If they do, fine. If they don't, fine. I don't have a problem
either way. YMMV.

There has NEVER been a team since the 72 Dolphins to enter their last regular season game undefeated. Why these so-called "experts" are so sure that Belichick or ANY coach, for that matter, would rest their starters with history staring them right in the face is mind boggling. It's one thing for coaches like Dungy to start resting guys in game 14 after going 13-0, but it's another thing for a cpach to get within 1 game and do it. I have no doubt in my mind that 90%(if not more) of coaches would go full throttle for 16-0 and play all their guys if they got to that final regular season game undefeated. The difference between Belichick and guys like Dungy is Belichick won't start resting healthy players in games 14 and 15. That's why this team has a real shot at going 16-0 compared to other teams in the past.

Well, gosh, if Peter King says so, it MUST be true!

Who cares what this douche says or thinks anymore. And we better frickin' win the Baltimore game because I'm going to be there and it would royally suck if we lost.

Remember in 2004 when the 2-11 Dolphins beat the 12-1 Patriots?... it could happen, and I think he picks them because he feels they have a D that might slow them down, and then if Brady has a bad game... it could be a trap game. Yes, it's unlikely in-and-of-itself, but King is saying sooner or later the Pats might trip.

I'm still sticking by 19-0. Accuscore had the Pats going 16-0 60% of the time if we beat the Colts.

Peter who? Oh yeah the guy with the vendetta. The one that I don't read any more.

If football is really one game at a time, then the Pats should run the table, since their odds of winning will be the same for each game. The fact that they beat the Colts despite a weak game plan, inept refs, an artificially loud stadium, and a couple unlucky breaks shows how strong the Pats are. There are two realistic obstacles: Injuries and whether their motivation to win regular season games will decline when they have locked up home position.

If they have a 90% chance of winning each game, the odds of winning 7 straight would be less than 50% (slightly).

In the playoffs, I'd give them less than 90% for each game. If 70%, the odds of running ther table goes down to 16%.

That's what my head says, but I'd still put it at 50-50.

Let's make it simpler... there's two possibilities...

They will... or they won't (run the table that is)

Peter King, like every other sports writer wants to sound smart so he makes a prediction.

Just like those who predicted the 49ers would go to the Super Bowl, if they are right they'll remind you 50 times that they predicted correctly.

If they're wrong, they'll never mention it again.

So truly they have a 50/50 shot. I don't care how good or bad teams are - a perfect season is tough to do - teams that have nothing else to play for this season will be "up" in the hopes of being the team to stop the Patriots from immortality.

And anyone who is worried about players taking a cheap shot at Brady in the 4th quarter when they are running it up would do well to remember that its just as likely they're taking a cheap shot at Brady in the 1st quarter in the hopes of winning the game.

Is it really that big of a deal that King doesn't think the Pats will go 19-0? That's one of the least negative and most well-founded "criticisms" he's had of them this year. At least this assertion makes sense, even if he's too dumb to explain it.

Seriously though, Baltimore? I'm more worried about Buffalo than Baltimore.

it's hard to disagree with King. if running the table were realistic, it's likely that another of the really great teams to play in the NFL over the past 35 years would have done it by now (niners, steelers, boys, to name three). to say, then, that it's more likely than not that one of the remaining teams on the patriots schedule is going to beat them is therefore quite sensible, even if we aren't sure which one it will be. Baltimore at home is as good a guess as any, if mcnair plays out of his mind and the breaks go their way. but it could be any of the remaining teams. this is the nfl, no matter how much folks on this board like to disdain the competition.

what does this mean? it means that IF the 2007 patriots do manage to pull this off in the post cap, free agency era, and then win the SB, it will be hard to argue that they are not the greatest team in the entire history of the NFL. that's what's at stake.

that's why people like King are saying they won't do it. it's easier to look back a few decades and say this team or that team lost now in the mists of time was the greatest of all time...Lombardi's Packers...Noll's Steelers...the old Browns. it's a lot harder to say that a team we can watch any week, made up of players who are well known to all of us...it's a lot harder to say that THIS team HERE, the one playing in front of our eyes...is the greatest team in history.

that's what's going on, i think.

As nice as wining 7 more regular season games woudl be - I would trade any one or even all of them if I could be assured of going undefeated in Jan and Feb!!

Nothing could be worse that running the table only to fall short in the Playoffs.

Fortunately, we have some really smart leaders on this team - coaches & players alike and they will have this team totally prepared to meet and beat all comers in this playoff run.

What a great time to be a Pats fan....

In my opinion... the way that almost every mediot and Godcomplexdell called out Belichick and dragged his name through the mud; barring several key costly injuries, this is going to be one of those "destiny" seasons (like the Pats first superbowl win).

Too much BS to put up with not to win it all!!!!

There is no possible way to be more driven than this team right now.

There are so many various angles of pissed off that you could focus the team on... so, in a way, all of this sh!t actually helps the Pats.

"Us against the world..."

It will not be the Giants. Think about it, we are undefeated heading into the last game of the season. A Big Time media circus will be surrounding the staduim and all the experts will be offering their input all week long. Heck, it will be a mini-Superbowl. What team thrives on being the focus and has been there countless times. Do you think after going through the whole season undefeated, they are going to let one team at the end beat them? As for the talent level of the Giants, who cares. They are not an elite team. Experts: they will pressure Brady. My hope is the experts express themselves very clearly leading up to that game.

I agree the Pats will light the Giants up in week 16.

Sure. The reason I found his proclamation, most of which come from an attempt to build his guru stature, which is mostly in his own mind, was because he mentioned Baltimore as a real threat. I don't think so after the way Pittsburgh dismantled them.

Personally, I've seen more exciting scrimmages in my day than the Baltimore-Pittsburgh "game" last week....

I sure hope Belichick doesn't share the mentality as many of the posters in this thread and others. There is no prize given for going undefeated in the regular season (obviously everyone wants to go undefeated in the postseason). Destiny, dynasty, fate, history, greatness...these are all concepts beyond the Pats' control. All subjective and all decided by flawed people with flawed logic based on flawed information.

Strike up a conversation about the "greatest" team ever sometime. Not only will you not be able to come to any reasonable conclusion, you likely won't be able to agree on what "greatest" actually means. The '72 Fins would lose 72-0 to the '85 Bears. The '72 Fins would crush teams from the 50's. So the '72 Fins are the most undefeatedest team ever...anything else is opinion and conjecture.

People are saying that the whole violationofoperatingproceduresgate situation makes it more important to run the table and establish the team's place in history. I say it makes the pursuit of perfection meaningless. History will be decided by and written about by the same empty-headed dimwits that are dominating public discourse today. Perfection won't shut them up or change their minds.

If this team wins the championship, they will be the greatest team I've ever seen (taking the mantle from the '85 Bears). That opinion won't change if they lose on a late FG to the Giants while playing their backups in the 2nd half. It will change if the Pats lose in the playoffs. Belichick should coach every game with an eye towards the title and resist every urge that does not further that goal.

Don't try to be a great team. Be the best team you can be and let history decide.

King is just making guesses. Does he have any good reasons why eh thinks the Ravens may beat us? The Ravens SUCK. They are awful. Pittsburgh embarassed them. Brady will tear them the f*ck up.

Peter King is right. The Patriots will not run at the table. After Peter gets through, there'll be nothing left on the table.
