Perfect Brady Ending

I think if the Pats win the SB Brady will retire. I think it would be be the perfect ending, Especally if they pull of 19-0, Think about it 6 QBs ahead of him 6 SB how would that not be the perfect way to end it.

I could see him just taking the Lombardi Calling over JG and handing it to him saying he is the man and walks away
You're right it would be a good ending but I'm afraid that the end of Brady is going to be kind of ugly.

There's going to come a time, I don't know when, in the next few years, when Brady thinks he can still go and Belichick has to disagree.

It's going to say a lot about the relationship between those two men if that controversy can be settled amicably, with Brady desperately wanting play and Belichick having to tell him you are no longer the best man for the job. I don't think this is coming this year or the next but it is coming.

Please god make it stop...

What is this obsession people have this year with Brady ending his career. He has clearly stated what his plans are. There is no sub text, no symbolism, no secret succession plan.. if his health allows it he wants to continue playing beyond this season. End of Story.

Exactly how I feel. I can't remember any time in any sport where the fans of the team with the best player in the game wanted him to hang them up immediately. It's the dumbest thing imaginable.

What a great, new thread with some fresh, new ideas.

Every time I see Brady and "ending" or "how many more?" kinda of stuff in the same sentence

Bill let Troy Brown stick around for an extra year. Why wouldn't he do the same for Tom?

imo the perfect brady ending is when Marsha is at the prom, and her date is acting like a real jerk, so bobby shows up and punches in right in the kisser, and then later Jan shows up to give everyone cookies.

Unless he completely falls off or gets massively injured this is not his last year. No matter how well he plays this being his last year means nothing. He needs to play probably at least 2 more years after this one to prove his point on TB12.

I think that is on his mind a lot. This year he can tie/surpass Favre. Next year is about tying/surpassing Moon. Next year he is all alone going longer than any other starting QB has. He needs to play at least that year if not 1 more after it.

I don't know if there is a perfect Brady ending to be honest. If he wins the super bowl and plays well doing it he may be tempted to say "maybe I can get one more... why take the shot to leave one more on the table?". If he wins a superbowl like super bowl 50 ala Peyton Manning being carried style is that really a perfect ending? I don't think so. That is probably the only way he leaves after a super bowl.

The only QB who had a perfect ending was Elway. He was just good enough to be a fairly big reason they won but he knew after his back to back wins if he came back next year he would fall off a cliff. He knew it... everyone knew it. You could tell he was a hair away from losing it.

Something like that rarely has the opportunity to happen. You need to win, play well but know that the ride is over and coming back next year be pointless.

Win, lose or draw he's the GOAT and can do whatever he wants.

Love the ending but it goes against everything he's been saying.

true, but brady does not ever come across as the kind of guy who would say 'one more and I'm done' even if that's what he was thinking

garoppolos continued presence on the team does point in a different direction

I wish I knew what to think, as much as this scenario is idyllic not sure I can figure out what drives #12... although he is forever humble, if he completes this season with a SB win, will he come back for more to insure his legacy will never be surpassed..

He says he does not care about statistics, however somewhere in the deep recesses in his mind he has to care somewhat.. and maybe that would motivate him to return.. he is on the verge of passing Peyton for regular season wins..

Interesting factoid, Brady has lost 52 games in his career while the second coming of "________ (insert name)" Matt Ryan or Flacco have already lost more games than he has...
I think you hit it on the head. While ideally he wins and walks away with 6 SB rings (matching Michael Jordan, a goal of Brady's), thus allowing the Pats to sign JG lonterm. But IF he won this year, it might make him even more driven (if that's possible)to win again. The guy is unstoppable, and will play until he can't be great anymore.

Worst case scenario, he wins, comes back, we lose JG, and Brady falls off the cliff ala Manning. Best case, he wins 2 more Lombardis, retires, and Brissett is ready after Brady leaves.

I think Garrapolo is going to sign a five year Vet minimum contract to stay with the Patriots as a back up because he loves being a Patriot. When Brady wins his tenth Lombardi he will walk away and Garrapolo will take over.

JMHO

So many people are hung up on the idea of Tom, and all stars for that matter, going out with a bang, winning again and retiring, cashing it in while on top.

That sounds more like a Hollywood movie than reality when it comes to Tom Brady.

I think he will quit when playing football is less rewarding to him than doing something else (more time with family, nutrition expert, ?) would be.

Tremendous team success and high personal accomplishments will make football MORE rewarding, not less, and make it harder to give up.

He will walk away when personally he can't contribute as much as he'd like to, and when that dropoff is affecting the team's performance.

Hopefully that won't happen for a long time and I hope that it is largely his choice when the time comes.

True.

I bet if Tom was given the choice, he'd want Jimmy gone.

We can all say Brady will entire if THIS happens or if THAT happens as if he still has something to prove.

He'll retire when his body fails him. After all, he has NOTHING else to prove. After all, he has more Super Bowl wins than any other quarterback in the history to play the game. Now that's he done that, some think......oh but 6 would be cool, then he'll retire.......but why stop at 6? wouldn't 7 be cool too? We could play this game all day.

Please stop with the 19-0 nonsense.

1. He'll play until he can't anymore, don't think he cares much about a storybook ending

2. "1 more ring then he retires" has been suggested every year starting in 2010 (2 rings ago)

ya..........and playing until he sucks means he will suck out there before he goes......most likely due to some physical limitation that he will then have to carry around with him for the rest of his life ala joe montana........maybe that's what he wants

"I will play until my body can't take it.......then I will get a cane and am sure that my wife will love the way that looks"

The perfect Brady ending is for the G.O.A.T. to quit while he's still at the top of his game, is still at the very top of the QB heap, is racking up Lombardi's, is healthy and has a strong supporting cast?

Opinions will vary, of course, but IMO that seems more like the worst ending than the best.
