People Still Grossly Underrate McCourty

Fans have Peyton Manning above Brady and Rodgers that just tells you how dumb they are lol McCourty has had a great season so far hopefully he continues to lead the secondary; our defensive strength, and help the team win the SB

Well the fact that Troy Polomalu is second in voting with strong safeties is also very telling.

Agree with DM being underrated. Since moving to safety, it has been all good. Hope he stays.

good...motivation for McC the rest of the year...unless some media whore runs his flapper valve in the national press.

Probably because you don't hear his name come up very often in the game.

Which is a good thing, and speaks to his talent. But still - a lot of people only focus on what they hear from the games.

LOL @ Tashaun Gipson at being the #1 free-safety. Some of these dense fans think INTs are all that matter. And Barry Church?!

Anyway, who cares. The All-Pro team is what really matters.

Earl Thomas III and Devin McCourty are significantly better than any other Safety in the league. Both are super players for very different reasons.

I know it's been about 15 years since the notorious beach flag football game, but I'm never disappointed when our guys don't get voted in. The only vote that matters is BB's vote of confidence. I remember a clip from the locker room a couple seasons ago after a game when BB gave McCourty the game ball and said there wasn't anyone he'd rather fight a battle with (or something to that extent). Dmac had just switched to S and had pretty much just been doing his job to benefit the team... nothing too flashy. If I were a player, I'd take that over the pro bowl any day.

I live in Denver - I know all too well that it doesn't matter what 'nfl fans' think.

What is this Probe Hole you write of?

I am not upset if McCourty is not the top vote getting safety.

But I do think bb needs to pony up and resign this man.

Fan Voting is almost always dumb; How the hell would I know who the best Right Guard in the NFL is? People just vote based on names and whoever leads in sexy stats like Picks, Sacks and Touchdowns.

NFL Fan voting is a popularity contest, not an exercise in honoring the best at their position...

This is a feeble attempt by Goodell et al, to try to make everyone happy... seldom works.

McCourty is more than worthy of consideration..

Also they pick out who is eligible to receive votes essentially before the season has even started. So it is much based on your rep heading into preseason as it is on your performance during that nfl season. They ought to at least add an option button to select other player not listed at each position to make it a little more up to date.

I doubt if other teams underrate DM. and that's the only thing that counts, not people voting on the internet

Dmac is a safety with good ball skills and good range, athletic and seems to be the ideal teammate. With that being said the NFL voting has always been a joke. Most voters have no clue anyway, but as long as we win and Dmac gets what he deserves and is happy I couldn't care less.

[conspiracy]

Belichick/Patricia design the defense to limit DMac's statistical contributions, thus ensuring he doesn't make the Pro Bowl and therefore does not need to be paid like a pro bowl safety.

[/conspiracy]

He is the QB of the secondary. We also need to lock him up this off season as well as Revis. Pay them pats..pay them

What should matter to McCourty is how the NFL, especially, rates him. IMO, he will be the best available free agent safety. The franchise tag number for safeties will be 6.713% of the 2015 league cap number. McCourty's 2014 cap number of $5,120,600 is taking up 3.68% of the 2014 Patriots adjusted cap number.
