Many suspected this to be true, now we have our proof. Fantastic signing.

Not that I can recall, I think it was just always speculated that Sheard and Lewis were recommended by Lombardi.

It was long suspected, but the Patriots don't exactly reveal a lot of detail about their decision-making process on personnel usually.

Reiss made a nice point about how Lewis was signed to a futures contract, and at the time, didn't generate much attention.

When the New England Patriots signed running back Dion Lewis to a reserve/future contract on Dec. 31, 2014, the transaction hardly moved the needle. Think about how relevant that is now.

With Lewis making the successful transition from reserve/future contract player to impact performer, it is a reminder that every roster addition has the chance to be a difference-maker and thus shouldn't be overlooked.

Good reminder that every little transaction can end up being a big deal, from the 6th-round, 4th-string QB to the UDFA cornerback from West Alabama to a guy who was cut by the Browns and Colts.
