Negotiated his own contract without an agent?! Unheard of!
It's right on the Vet min.mgcolby said:I must say I was a little surprised at the value of the contract. But I now recall there is a vet minimum do you know what it is?

7 to 9 Credited Seasons - $670,000 *
10+ Credited Seasons - $770,000 * *All salaries for players with four or more years of experience AND who sign contracts that qualify for veteran's exemption will only count $460,000 against teams' salary caps.
mgcolby said:Thanks. That makes sense now. I was figuring 770,000 for a ST guy was a little steep.
Come on... between wild speculation about who BB might be dating, debating Brady's fashion choices, and Stealer fans crowing, THIS is news-worthy.dryheat44 said:He still has to make the team next year. This really isn't that news-worthy.
I hear that Colvin kid does okay in a pinch at OLB.pats1 said:Good point. It's a logjam at MLB, but desolate behind Vrabs and Big Mac at OLB.
MLB:
Bruschi
Vrabel
Brown
Beisel
Izzo
Davis
Alexander
Claridge
OLB:
McGinest
Vrabel
Banta-Cain
Obviously Brown was a top-tier pass-rushing OLB in his days with Seattle, but he hasn't shown that ability just yet.

I think our own beloved Teddy B used to his own deals, up until this very last renegotiation.

Hmmmm... Teddy B... the name's familiar, but I can't seem to place it.Armen Da Pats Fan said:Very rare, indeed, but not unheard of.

Yeah, what he said first.flutie2phelan said:As i recall the sequence ... Tedy negotiated his own contract, again ... but then hired an agent in the wake of his stroke. Presumably in self-defense against the sudden complexity of his situation.
...in fact, if DDavis does make the 53, then the future of the LB corps is slightly bleaker than right now, because everyone, esp. Bru and McG, will be one year older.dryheat44 said:He still has to make the team next year. This really isn't that news-worthy.
