Given how bad of a blocker Derby was I think people over think how much playing time he would have gotten with Gronk being out.

It's funny, but we used to be amused at Belichick spending all of those draft picks trying to find the next Mark Bavaro. And then we lucked out and found out why -- not only did Belichick finally find the guy, this guy is actually better than Bavaro himself.

But this is what you get with guys like them. Their style of play is so physical and they are so good at it, that it takes a toll on their bodies. Bavaro only lasted 10 years in the NFL. Gronk's already on season 7. Let's hope he can come back and still be effective, whether that is the playoffs this year or by next season.
