I don't think anyone is afraid of the Broncos, but I think the respect for what they did this weekend should be noted. Plus, the Pats rarely blow teams out in the playoffs for some reason, although, it would be a good time for that to change. In addition, we owe Denver one for that 2006 playoff game.

The Pats have won 8 straight games. 5 of those 8 wins, including one against Denver, have been by 18 or more points.

Denver has lost by 18 or more points in 2 of its past 4 games.

The Pats have a schedule advantage this week (home game, bye week, short week for the Broncos) that is unusual in the regular season, and in particular wasn't present (I think) for any of the games mentioned above.

So the line isn't completely crazy.
