An interesting piece up at Over the Cap, comparing teams' total contracts with their efficiencies.

Not surprisingly, NE is getting the most bang for the buck.

Since the season is halfway over for everyone I wanted to look at what teams are getting value and which ones are not out of their roster. There are a number of ways to measure value but what I wanted to do here was to use Football Outsiders weighted DVOA and my own scoring efficiency metrics to give an average level of performance for each team. This was then compared with the total amount of money invested in a team for 2016, where the investment equals the sum of all annual contract values as of last week. Each team is then broken down into one of four tiers to really define the winners and losers of the season.

The Best and Worst Value Teams of 2016 - Over the Cap

I think this is wrong. All I've read on Patsfans this week is how BB sucks and the team sucks.

Glad to see that Bob is making good use of the small fortune some of us are paying him for tickets beer and parking.
Its not Bob Krafts fault if you pay $10 for a beer and can't afford it.

They manage their money well, congratulations.

In this economy, "efficiency" buys you a bend and break defense

Doesn't that just mean that since every team spends mostly the same amount of money, the Patriots win the most?
Yes, but the implication is that Kraft's folks manage the cap better than others.

The Best and Worst Value Teams of 2016 - Over the Cap

The two outliers are the Pats (on the positive side) and the Jets (mostly courtesy Revis) on the negative side.

Note this has zero to do with Kraft being "cheap" - pretty much every team is up against the cap over time and spends the maximum it can. It's more to do with good cap management, Brady giving them a discount and them not re-signing players like Revis.

Na, just the defense man!

Don't take away all those easy narratives for everyone by applying logic and reason.
