Pats holding private workout with Tebow

Why do we care about a 4th round or lower pick?

I can't explain it, I have no reasoning, and if someone fights me on it I probably won't fight back... but I feel like if he's there in the 4th, we should draft him to play TE.

If BETTY WHITE is there in the 4th we should draft her to play TE. We're a little light at TE this year.

Because he won't be, a team will find a need for him. Unless he goes all Ramsay on us all. He'll fit somewhere. I'd rather coach him into the QB position and get some use out of him in the meantime, such as slot receiver or part time FB, than have a talent like that wait his turn.

The next Michael Bishop?

Tebow is one of the more interesting prospects to come along in a while. He will never be an NFL qb, he will get ahniliated as a runner in the NFL, and he doesn't have the straight line speed to play on special teams. What he does have, however is an all world 3-cone and incredible explosion. This si what grabs my attention in addition to his once a generation leadership and work ethic. I really like him as a heavily motioned end on shorter option routes.

I don't think he will ever become a world beater, but he will be an effective contributor to the team. His leadership, drive, and commitment to football are enough for me. He intrigues me athletically as well. He's a guy coaches can find a good role for without changing the offense. The Patriots have been adding young leadership every draft. This is the offense guy. I'd spend a 2nd on him, and I genuinely think he will be a Patriot.

The fact that Matt Millen is on the NFLNW right now saying that he is "Poised" to do great things well worries me greatly.....
That guy is THE WORST evaluator of talent that there ever was, the fact that he even had a GM job is beyond belief, the fact that the Fords kept that clown around waiting for him to wakeup is beyond stupid....
I'm surprised Henry Clay Ford(whatever) hasn't invented the square wheel.......

I hope you are wrong. The BB/Saban connection is a good one.....

BB better not waste a 2 on Tebow

Ok, then let's draft another solid player in RD 2 like.....
Bethel Johnson
Chad Jackson
Ron Brace
Terrence Wheatly
Marquise Hill
Eugene Wilson

I will say this: if BB has an extended conversation with Tebow, he WILL be a Patriot. Tebow is smart, athletic, and is a natural leader. He has firey emotion and passion for the game that is virutally unmatched by anybody available in the draft. If he's available where BB likes him, he's wearing a Flying Elvis. He is EXACTLY BB's type of player. Smart, versatile, and a leader... no matter what position he plays.

You pretty much summed up my thoughts. Just want to add, how about a role player (I consider Reggie Bush a role player) that might catch 4-5 passes a game at a number of positions, run 4-6 times a game ( think forward laterall), and may throw a pass in the red zone every once in a while. If you don't think BB can devise ways to use this guy effectively, then you don't know Bill.

Does Jesus want him to be a starting NFL qb is the question. They should ask him that. If yes get the kid.

My post in another thread:

"This kid will be a franchise qb. Look how much work he's down in 5 weeks, picture one or two years. He has the heart, the physical abilities, he just needs to learn the mechanics. If Brady was age 36, I'd pick him at #44. It just doesn't make sense for us with Brady being 32. "

It doesn't make sense for the pats to pick him, or any other highly rated quarterback, since Brady is in his prime. Why draft a back-up QB for his whole rookie contract with a 2nd rounder?
---------------------
A good team to choose Tebow would be the Vikings. He would have a year to learn behind the old man. When he eventually starts he'll have A.P in his prime and Harvin in year 3, good fit.

Mayock on Tebow:
Tim Tebow made more progress than I expected between the Senior Bowl and his pro day. His delivery is more compact and his footwork is much tighter. Still, he’s a project, but don’t bet against this kid.

Mayock is a good judge of talent.Brady wasn't a polished QB when he arrived in camp as a rookie.

Brady has said he wants to play until hes 40, you want tebow "fitting somewhere" while being groomed to be a QB for 8 years?

ive heard it here before and ill repeat it, bradys replacement is probably looking for a highschool to go to

Tebow's new motion is a nice display of the ability to adapt, but it means precicely jack. With a fake snap, a group of scouts around you, and receivers you've been working out with, anyone can display any mechanics. Guess what's going to take over when the pocket is collapsing around him, that Mike is coming balls out through the a gap on the delay, and his outlet is smothered? He's gonna throw a telegraphed duck from his hips. Tim Tebow is not a pro style QB. Period. End of discussion.

Quarterbacks can change their motions and adapt. Rodgers, up in Green Bay, is a perfect example of a QB altering his mechanics. He made his changes while he was in college. Time will tell whether Tebow is more Rodgers or Vick.

Can someone answer. Why would the pats draft a QB in the first two rounds? I bet BB has a rule in the draft room, "no qbs until round 3 or below".

What would be the point? Brady's got 5 good years.

I don't see him as an NFL QB. And I'd be wicked pissed to see us spend a 2 on him. HOWEVER...

If what you say above transpires, I could see us trading into a 3 and taking the kid. If that's so, I'm good with it.

whatever, you have to consider Tebow a "project" at QB in the NFL.

The Pats went 10-6 and got mashed at home in the playoffs. Myself,I'd want 4 reasonably sure NFL ready players with the first 4 picks. If he were to slip, sure, take a flier on him in round 4...but...I want impact players with these first 4 picks we have and this kid, for all his talent, wouldn't see the field any time soon.

No question, D, you're spot on with that. I do think that Rogers is a far more natural QB than Tebow. When I see Tebow, I see a motion TE who can play some situational tailback lined up under center because he can chuck a ball 30 yards. He's physically a near ideal spread option power QB. I don't think he would be playing QB on a pro style team. Urban Meyer was one of the few coaches who didn't recruit Tebow as an athlete, and I think that meant something to him. What it tells me is that most college coaches viewed Tebow then as I do now. A great leader, a great football player, but ultimately he will be added to the team as an athlete.

People need to stop talking about 4th round or TE. Neither of these are going to happen.
