Felger was happy with the trade.
That's a bad sign....he HATED the Moss trade...

I applaud the move regardless of whether it proves beneficial in the long run or not. Like may here I was very critical as to how the Pats select/coach their secondary personnel. I'd be a hypocrite to critcize this move when its obvious that Pats are proactively moving to address a weakness.
The only downside are the off the field issues but TB likley wouldn't have traded him at all if he were a choir boy. Talib's misconduct was ironically beneficial to the Pats as to what they had to surrender to get him.
I don't see it as a big deal. He is a decent corner when he isn't in trouble with the law. Not a stud...not a JAG..a decent CB
He's been somewhat inconsistent, but he definitely has the talent of a top 10 CB.I think he's a bit better than decent, definitely not stud or great, but more than decent I would say.
And let's not forget that the reason the Pats gave up a 4th rounder in this trade is that they did not have a 5th or 6th rounder to deal. So I don't get the criticisms that the Pats should have offered less than a 4th, they literally couldn't! And I don't think the Bucs were willing to take just a 7th round pick.
Bottom line, if Talib can fit into this defense and provide competent play at the CB position for 7 games plus the playoffs, it will be well worth what they gave up. Because frankly there are not a lot of competent CBs on the Pats roster right now. This looks like a move to shore up the secondary in the short term but that's exactly what we need.
Pats fans posters have been begging for BB to address the secondary, and he just did! So I don't want to hear any complaints. There wasn't anyone better available. Certainly you will NOT get a 1st round talent at CB for the price of a 4th rounder UNLESS they have some serious flags on them. And that's essentially what the Pats got.
This move reminds me of the Randy Moss trade. A very high risk, but high upside move that could go down as the bargain of the 2012 season if it works out. If it doesn't, all you lost was a mid-round pick.
Talib likes to gamble and sometimes gets burned.
The Pats needed to do something at CB for obvious reasons.

That's already an immediate upgrade over our current CB's, who just get burnt without liking to do anything

So....
S McCourty
S Wilson/Chung/Gregory
CB Talib
CB Dennard
$.05 Arrington
or
S Chung
S Wilson/Gregory
CB Talib
CB McCourty
$.05 Arrington/Dennard

For me, if everyone is healthy, I take Door #2 or 2a with Gregory starting. The decision point is whether you want to depend on Arrington for 50%+ of the defensive reps at corner (Choice 1) or whether you would rather rely on Chung/Gregory for a safety spot. I would choose either a healthy Chung or Gregory over counting on Arrington.
Is Talib cleared to practice next week, even if he can't play?
God I hope this guy can hold it together for a 4 months.
However his last two seasons have not been as good as his first two.
With that said, hes still better than anyone else that plays CB on this team.

I don't believe so. When you're suspended, it typically means that you're suspended from all team activities. I'm fine with it, if so. Gives him that much more time to learn the playbook.
