Pats finish 7-9 for the first time in franchise history

He is the GM and is responsible for the roster though...

bb the GM should be fired.

Bb the coach deserves an award.

7-9 should not be looked at as some kind of amazing accomplishment.
It was a failure through and through because it did not have to be this way. BB failed to prepare for the TB departutre and he and his staff failed to adapt the roster.
Parcell wisest saying was always ":You are what your record says you are". &-9 says you are a below average not very good football team. BB has to take responsibility and not be bailed out by the "he had no talent" excuse. BB is the reason they had no talent.

Bad season.

I’d argue that.

Arians will be the downfall.
We'll find out soon enough. Say what you want about Arians, he had something Belichick didn't, the foresight to realize Brady is still an elite quarterback.

You make it sound like they accomplished something. They didn't. They haven't had a record this bad in 20 years. Their offense was painful to watch. Newton is a disgrace to quarterback play. I'm just glad it's over if for no other reason then I don't have to hear how wonderful a guy he is. As though that's worth anything either.

what they accomplished was seven wins with a roster that a few college teams could beat.

pretty amazing.

The Bucs haven't made the postseason since 2002; they only got there this season because of Brady. So yes, I think it's likely he considers this one of his better seasons.
The NFL is the ultimate team game. If not, then Dan Marino would have as many championships as Tiger Woods or John McEnroe.

Do you really want to compare the 2020 Bucs roster vs the 2020 Pats roster, absent of the QB position?

To say that 'Tampa Bay only made the playoffs because of Brady' is so ridiculous and absurd, nothing you say should be taken seriously.

I think people are underplaying the bigger mistake Belichick made. The biggest blunder of his career. He totally miscalculated how long Brady would remain a franchise quarterback. For God sakes, he practically had Brady dead and buried prior to the 2014 season...he suggested it in the post-draft press conference (openly drawing attention to Brady's "age and contract").

I'm comparing the 2020 Bucs to the recent history of the Bucs franchise. They won 7 games last season with an easier schedule. They finished last in their division 8 of the previous 11 seasons. They haven't won 11 games in 15 years. Brady completely flipped the script of their quarterback play. So yes, if not for Brady they wouldn't be a playoff team. Like who else are you giving credit to?

All I hear is how much of a dope Arians is so he's not responsible. AB's a "mental case" so it's not him. Evans, Godwin, the majority of their defense, all there last season. You tell me... who was the difference?

The difference?

Please research the definition of scientific hypothesis, or a legal definition of proof.

You are attempting to make a claim that one single change is proof of your theory, while at the same time ignoring all the other changes.

Dumping Jameis Winston and his 30 picks plus 12 fumbles means almost anyone else not named Cam equals the playoffs for Tampa.

Bb deserves an award for getting this roster to 7 and 9. An amazing job by bb this year.

he had next to nothing at qb, wr, te, dt, de and lb, yet still won 7 games!!!!!!
BB CREATED this roster so I don’t know why we would give him an award for getting to 7-9 with it! A lot of the issues we are having are directly related to BB drafting problems, FA fails and bad decisions.....

I can probably find a dozen times in my life when I would be happy with a Pats 7-9 season.

Cam was pretty mediocre this year but we all remember the Seattle game and how amazing he looked with a WR on top of his game (Jules).

My question is, what do you guys think the team records would be if Cam got to throw to Gronk, Brown, Evans, and Godwin instead of Jules for a few games and then whatever the hell we called a WR crew after that.

And yes I'm fully aware BB is the guy who built that terrible receiving crew. But is Brady back to elite status or did he just have some of the best weapons we've seen on one team in a long time?

I bet Manning could have come out of retirement and put up 10-12 wins on that team.

And oddly enough, a similar change here would probably equal a playoff berth for us next year as well. Put a league average QB in there for us and we're 10-6 at worst.

I don’t think 7-9 is failure it’s meeting expectations. Nobody predicted a SB for this group. Almost nobody said this is a playoff team. This season shouldn’t have been a surprise. I’d say a record around .500 give or take a game was what a lot of us expected and that’s what we got. Some of us figured they’d be worse.

My expectations are higher next year. Better QB obviously and defense too.

To be honest, the fact that we are 7-9 is impressive with this roster.

If we had a competent QB and receivers this would be a playoff team

Oh brother. Please look up the definition of pretentious.

Your latter statement is ridiculous. Do I have to list all of the quarterbacks who suck and wouldn't get Tampa Bay into the playoffs?

Otherwise I'm not ignoring anything, nor did I suggest as much. Really, I'm merely stating the obvious... Brady very favorably impacted the fortunes of his new team. He's the newest, most obvious difference from their most recent rosters. Just like he's the latest, most obvious difference from the Patriots most recent rosters.

Why can't you just admit Brady is the main single reason why Tampa Bay ended a 13-year playoff draught?

7-9. All of that talent would have been completely wasted with Cam.

No, he wasn't mediocre. He was bad. Like 4th worst QB in the league bad.
