DVOA finally has enough data to demonstrate what I've been trying to convince them of for weeks.... NE's first month is wholly non-predictive and might as well have happened in 1987. You can't imagine how many "small sample size" and "cherry picking" objections I had to deal with. Being right can be tiring, but it is so rewarding.
I remember when I understood football stats. The one I do get is the difference between our passer rating and our defense's. and IIRC we are now number 2 or 3 in that to GB and Seattle. Of course, that includes the first four games, so we may well be higher since then.
I just love bringing in a guy off the bench in whom I have some confidence. And it seems that happens all the time now.
Since Week 4..
Current record of Patriots Opponents: 80-58-1 .579 winning % and allowing 19ppg
Current record of SEA Opponents: 63-62-1 .504% winning % and allowing 15.9ppg
Pats have faced better competition and have allowed only a FG more per game.
