Re: Final 2010 PPG: Jets: 19.0 - Patriots 19.6

Tough stat to compare because of the special teams touchdowns that either team could have given up, or defensive TD's by opponents.

The Patriots had a great season and exceeded everyones expectations. I dont understand why people are comparing them to the Jets, the Jets are the #6 seed.

Hopefully the youthfulness isnt an issue in the playoffs and they can continue to force the turnovers.

You've done a pretty job of favorably comparing the Jets defense against the Patriots defense in other threads. Why aren't other people allowed to do the same given the Jets defense is their pride and joy.. and the Pats 2010 Defense is arguably better than their Defense.

Re: Final 2010 PPG: Jets: 19.0 - Patriots 19.6

The only stats that matter are the amount of turnovers you can create and coming up big in critical situations.

I'd say it's the number of times you can hold the opposing team to zero points. In my mind, if the Pats stop a team on 3rd-and-5 at the 50, I don't care much if it's a turnover or if the opponents punt.

A pretty good result for this defense.

Wait a minute, I thought this was the worst defense in the world?!

What a sad excuse for a BB defense...

I'd wager it was #1 for the last two months or so.

It's almost as if the Pats had the GOAT DC working with them...

Obligatory post about the ranking being extremely deceiving because anyone with eyes can tell this defense is actually far more vulnerable in reality than stats can ever show.

Follow-up: if you take out all the games where the defense was dominant the stats show they actually weren't very good.

So true! LOL

some rebuilding year ha guys?

In other news, the Patriots had the highest number of points ever in games 9 on, with 299.

Thats more than Miami and Buffalo for the whole year and 5 other teams.

How much better will the defense be?

With Spikes coming back and the D-line having time to get some rest?

Re: How much better will the defense be?

It will be good, waaaaayyyyy better than last years defense...I like our chances

In the last 5 games the Pats allowed 47 points, 27 of which were to Green Bay, that is a very impressive stat...
