For as long as Brady has been BRADY, the goal - with respect to game strategy, budgetary strategy, and draft policy - has been to have a defense that is good enough not to be a problem, and not to overextend looking for more. The expectation has been that with Brady in place the offense would, more often than not, be MORE than good enough. The philosophy has made for frustration at times ("How come they won't spend millions on a gd PASS RUSH!!!"), but really, what team has has had better overall success for as long as it has been in place: none. When the circumstances change, I suspect Bill will change: he's pretty smart.
