Pats considering Butler trade to Saints for Brandin Cooks

I agree - counterpoint though is that when Cooks has been floated in such highly publicized rumors, it becomes very unlikely he ends up returning to New Orleans.

Butler being publicly dangled like this - rarely ever see it happen with the Patriots - doesn't seem very helpful if the "plan" is to keep him on the team.

So the Pats signed a big-money CB who could replace Butler, and the saints signed a speedster WR who could replace Cooks shortly after.

How 'bout that?

It's feeling kind of inevitable. The question is, is it a straight up deal or something going on with picks. I'm fine with a straight up deal but would be disappointed, and surprised, if we added a pick(s) to the deal.

Yea Cooks is ours...I hope.

Brandon Cooks is Patriots answer to Anthony Brown

Why are people talking about Payton? Loomis is the GM.

What happened to the old New england Patriots. The ones who paid their own players when they did everything right and improve each season.

That team was put out to the shed as Bill Belichick came along and won 5 Super Bowls. I know, I know, it sucks winning so much.

Yes I love cooks we're unstoppable!

LOL Ted Ginn replacing Cooks?

After the way Michael Thomas emerged, Ginn is a solid #3 for that offense behind Thomas and Snead.

I know, I know... I didn't mean like a straight-up replacement, but rather someone who can "fill the role" of a speedster, even though he's obviously not as good.

I could've clarified that in my original post but then it would've been too wordy! Going for style points.

They've never really needed stars. They have always done great with a deep cast of good recievers. They need a GM that can draft defense and not waste all their Fa money on overrated offensive players like Colby Fleener.

Realistic opportunity to go 16-0 with Cooks added to the offense but we are all going to miss Butler.

Ginn is not replacement for Cooks.

No way Titans get this Patriots have so much on the line.
