Pats claim WR Michael Floyd

Don't we have the last shot at him. That means nobody was interested except us lol. Whalen and him now claimed in the last 2 weeks
So we could've gone for a free agent deal. Comp pick is part of his value?

As a FA we would be competing for his services with every other team. Lack of claims for $1.3 M doesn't imply lack of interest.

The more I think about it, the more this move seems like one a SB-winning team makes. Their offensive weakness is depth at WR - when Hogan grabbed his hand/wrist the other night, I stopped breathing for a few seconds. This adds depth, but also a skill set at WR they needed. And hopefully he will be highly motivated to save his career.

you think its about Talent?

The kid has a problem. This is his 2nd DUI. Should not be rewarded like this. Should be given treatment.
So your belief is that the punishment for being charged with DUI is that you can no longer work? Interesting.

Can he return punts? I'm shocked, But probably not as much as Floyd himself. i love the move.

Yea, a nice big bodied WR with a lot of length that can work the middle of the field and the outside.. if he can show up, buy in, put his head down and grind... he could be a nice little asset come playoff time from a matchup perspective

Exactly.

This isn't an instant success but if he works out its a huge move.

The guy has his issues on the field with some drops but he's a great weapon.

Again huge *IF!*

But if he works out our offense is a lot more dynamic.

This guy has been the subject of trade rumors for a while. He might see this as a last step and realize what a chance he has. At the very least he can show case himself on a huge stage.

He hasn't gotten in trouble since 2011. Didn't leonard little killed someone and kept playing?

Hm? Floyd was arrested for a DUI on Monday, it's why he was on waivers in the first place.

If he isn't motivated now than he doesn't have much of an nfl future left. On a real contender now. Somewhere fitzgerald's a little jealous.

I know that. My point's that i believe in second chances. His teammates speak well of him.

Good God, who knew Arizona was such a dumpster fire this year.

Let's not whistle past the graveyard here. The team is dangerously thin with healthy bodies at receiver. It's entirely possible this move was viewed inside as an upgrade over Griff Whalen and that's all.

Ok but there is also the chance BB has better intel on this guy than 30 other teams which think he's a problem or washed up

Kind of embarrassing. All 31 teams passed on this guy. but not Pats

It was 30 but yes.

It is not unusual to see 30 teams doing one thing and Pats another.
And usually I am happy and proud to be with Pats.
This time Id prefer it the other way.
_

My insignificant moral disappointment aside (this is football - as someone so eloquently and manly put it)
I can understand that the system urges BB to be ruthless opportunist if he wants to “try and win games“ and “do what's best for the team“. Especially in a year the league just took away #1 pick and one quarter of the season of MVP QB and no one from the other 31 stood up.

The rest was written already. Floyd could be anything from a 1.3M comp pick to a significant contributor (possibly already in this playoff). When he is ready to play he offers a new kind of weapon for TB .. not too far from what was lost with Gronk (receiving wise).

This has Reggie Wayne 2.0 written all over it if you ask me.

Michael Floyd is only 27-years-old. Prime of his career physically, if he can lay off the booze and focus on staying fit and learning from the best QB in the history of the game. I sure hope he takes this seriously.
