Will Campbell-Anther solid game with a couple negative plays. Beat around the edge causing Maye to scramble for 3 yards on 1 play. On the deep ball to Hollins he was blocking his guy, Henderson chipped which seemed to throw Campbell off and the guy got to the inside and hit Maye as he threw. Will was held by DL on the 3rd down run just before half at the goal line, he was supposed to come off the block and get the LB that made the tackle but the DL that Campbell and Wilson were engaged with grabbed his shoulder and pulled him backwards. Incredibly obvious hold at point of attack not called. He faced Diaby, who is a good pass rusher, and he held his own, not 100% clean but good.

Jared Wilson-He had some struggles but also had many good plays. On the last Long TD run Wilson was pushed back, Tre knocks Wilson down and goes around the edge for the TD. He got beat badly by Vita on a play that probably is a big gain or long TD to Pop if he wasn’t. Maye had to throw it deep over everyone just to get rid of it but Pop had just broken free to the right and if Drake had just 1 more second he probably had time to see Pop. On the goal line sneak I think it was not on purpose to go down, 92 beat Wilson and Bradbury clean, Drake had nowhere to go but into 92 right away. Next play 92 beat Wilson again clean. Not his cleanest game but in over 60 plays that’s still a ton of good plays but 2 bad goal line blocks, a bad beat on a play that would have been a big gain makes this a step back game for Wilson. Don’t want to go overboard because he’s a massive step forward from Layden Robinson. Teaching moments for sure from this one.

Tre Henderson-This is what you expected to get from Tre. He gets to the outside or second level, and he can be gone. He just outruns everyone. I thought he ran well inside despite poor production. Tight Ends, and once in a while the WR blocks, failed more often than the line though Bradbury, as you would expect with Vita, struggled more than most. He was 13 carries for 23 yards outside the big runs but don’t think that was his fault. Good on pass pro again. Had the 1 chip that seemed to mess up Campbell but hard to blame him for that.

Kyle Williams-Finally a big play, thought on the play Drake threw him open more than he got a ton of separation, but he turned on the speed after the catch and ran away from people. Again, Not many plays where he was a main read. On Maye roll out to the right where he flipped the ball to Westover incomplete, Williams did a good job to keep going across deep and if Drake had a little more time there was a shot at a big play as he had a step. Open a couple other times. He’s down the list of reads on most plays so a bit hard to judge him.

Efton Chism-Got 1 offensive snap, ran an out, was open but Drake completed a pass to Hollins for a first down. Had 2 kick returns, 1st was good, 2nd blocking was poor and stuffed.

Craig Woodson-It seemed like the team overall started slow. Bucs seemed to have a little more energy, maybe being off the bye week had something to do with it but the Pats looked a step slow. The Williams TD really changed the feel of the game. Woodson was very similar. He took a bad angle on the first drive and was not able to make a tackle on a completion. He got badly sucked in on a play fake and thought he was beat deep on another play but it was long developing so ball was already out. He then settled down and played really well. Couple real nice breakups including the one late in the game almost picked. He looked like 2 different players from Q1 to the rest of the game. He had 4 plays that showed some flashes of good closing speed which I have not seen too much of in other games. Had good aggressive run defense on 1 play. He was beat on the last TD but had pretty good coverage, great throw.

Joshua Farmer-Similar from Farmer as in his other games, non-existent on pass rushes. Had a nice penetration and then got a hand on the ball carrier on 1 play. Was never double teamed. Doesn’t really flash. Just a JAG so far.

Cory Durden-DUDE IS UNBLOCKABLE! OK, 1 time they doubled him on a pass rush and stopped him. Moved Durden to below Farmer in the breakdown even though not a rookie because I continually compare the 2 and Durden continues to flash while Farmer underwhelms. Durden flushed the QB with a good pass rush on 1 play. He won his individual match-ups regularly. Helped blow up a screen pass. Multiple run defense stops/helps. Durden for President! Love this guy.

Elijah Ponder-First run play to his side he was put on the ground. Had 1 pressure on a bootleg to his side. Actually, got caught inside on that play but recovered nicely. Had a nice move around the edge, missed the sack initially and then got back on the QB. Stonewalled on many of his pass rushes outside of that. He seems to make a good play every game. Would like to see some variation to his pass rush moves, seems rather 1 dimensional.

Andy Borregales/Julian Ashby- 4 XP’s so another easy day for kicking. No bad snaps Win, Win!

Drake Maye-Like most of the team he started slow. After a slow start he was really good. If just threw that pick away it would have been a high level performance. The pocket movement and throw to Hollins with 4 guys around them and 2 guys hitting them was ridiculous. The TD to Kyle Williams was another incredible pass with superb touch. Hollins deep bomb another. The Pop Douglas pass with free blitzer in his face. SO many high level throws again. Hard to tamper down the gunslinger mentality when you make so many tight window and ridiculous throws. Took Rodgers awhile, Favre never learned. Drake is coachable, smart, he’ll learn and it will be even scarier for the rest of the league.

He had 8 plays that were 3rd and 7 or longer pass plays. The only 2 third down throws that were not 7 yards or more was the pick in the end zone, thus a red zone throw, and a 3rd and 3 at their own 31. Mayfield had 6 of those same 3rd and longs and 4 passes on 3rd and short. The defense carried the team in a lot of ways and the talk is Maye didn’t have to carry the team but not sure how many other QB’s would have made some of those throws. He took 1 sack for 1 yard loss and I knew after last week and all the takes too many sacks talk he’d probably not take many sacks, just seems like when people harp on something he shows them it is not really an issue.

I tried to watch the DLine in a bit more detail and I did pick out Durden a few times in making good plays. Hopefully he will keep developing and add to the defensive front depth
