Patriots Player Departure Patriots waive CB Jack Jones

Jack was definitely bringing some bad energy. It is curious that he was first to go and not JC.
Now I’m wondering if he was a bad influence on JC missing curfew, not the other way around?

Bill knows JC already, and Jack put together a body of work in his short time in New England. JC’s legal problems weren’t as bad…

Tyquan Thornton.

But if only if Bailey Zappe is the QB.

Anyway, JC Jackson should also be cut at this point. We're not holding onto his contract, so why bother keeping him around?

I would keep JC if he had a reasonable contract, BUT he doesn't

I get that. It should be someone else's decision to make at this point. I don't care if we ultimately release him. BUT it shouldn't be the guy that theoretically should be on the way out that is emptying the cubbard. Let him sit at home for the rest of the year and see what the new guy thinks and if they vibe.

This is the downside to all the "Bill earned the right to finish out the year".
Maybe Kraft hadn’t decided Bill is gone. What if Bill keeps Jack for next season’s coach to deal with and he is next season’s coach?

Still a chance for a trade from someone at the bottom of the waiver list....doubt he clears waivers. This is still a passing league where CB's are at a premium.
Trade deadline is passed. Thinking trade means keeping him on the roster until end of season. Wastes a roster slot on a cancer.

If he wasn't a total malcontent I would agree but if someone is a net negative in the locker room they have to go.
Not just a malcontent. A head case. Worse, a head case with a history of firearms violations.

That Pierre Strong trade still annoys me. Not that he is some superstar but he is at least a different skillset than what we have. A smaller, speedier back who potentially could have been the third down guy. Instead we traded him for a guy who has never played a down of football who was probably going to be available on waivers a few weeks later.

JC was only on the books for $1.5m this year. Not a lot. It's low risk to see if he can did himself out of his grave and contribute.

I think you are implying next year which he absolutely should not be paid $14m

JC Jackson's situation just feels different than Jack Jones'. JC's feels like "I'm not in the right place so I'm going to take personal leave to figure it out"

Yes, next year. We're releasing him regardless to get out of his contract. I doubt we'll offer him more than $5-6m
