Patriots vs Bengals Post-Game Thread

What's pathetic is that it takes a "loss" for Patriot fans to finally wake up and recognize the glaring problems that exist all of this team. The Patriots should have stripped BB a long time ago of his GM duties and if he didn't like it, find a new HC then if he wants to have his way that bad.

I've stated for years that the Patriots needed to get Brady a strong wideout and stop depending on these slot receivers and TE's. Get a real ******* wideout instead of trying guys like CJ, Tate, Branch and Lloyd. Now, they sink even further with rookies and won't even re-sign Welker and they had Jennings and Wallace up for grabs in the off season. Words truely don't describe the disgust I have in BB's management duties as a GM. The wideout position has been the biggest hole on this offense for years and teams have exposed it in big playoff games when they shut down the middle of the field and guys like Lloyd and Branch couldn't do their part. Jennings or Wallace could have changed that.

But here we go we're 4-0!!! Even though we played 2 rookie QB's and one QB that was benched along with a struggling Falcons team with a losing record. But nothing is wrong with the Pats. We're 4-0!!!! Everyone wants to be like us. Everyone is jealous of our winning seasons that end up in failure because we can't get an air attack when teams shut down this offense that lacks a wideout who can stretch the field and secondary. We're what everyone wants to be!!! UNTIL the Pats lose a game and now everyone wants to be concerned and see the problems that have been caused due to the horrible off season that just took place. Now people want to pay attention.

Good grief, it shouldn't take a loss to finally see the problems on this team and why they are there. Brady took a freaking pay cut so this team could ADD MORE TALENT. Instead they strip him of anyone who can catch a ball and add an injury prone Wes Welker wannabee that is more brittle then a pretzel. Injuries have been really bad, but this cheap mentality this front office has should have a lot more fans criticizing the philosophy of this front office and what they have done in order to secure a talented enough team for the small window they still have left to win a SB with Tom Brady at QB.

1. BB played the ending perfect using his timeouts and the 2:00 warning giving Brady 1: 48 and 1 timeout. He did not panic where a lot of other HCs totally misuse timeouts and when to use them.

2. Its a game of inches. I can think of at least 3 passing TDs that never happened. The plays were there to be had.

(a) Dobsons catch and long run fumble recovery down to the 20 yard lines. Is it just me or should he have turned outside towards the sideline where there was 1 defender and a NE blocker?

(b) Almendola catching a pass right at the goal line. Pats had to settle for a FG.

(c) Dobsons near TD in the endzone that was knocked out of his hands.

3. I dont get passing the ball to Solder for the TD when its goal to go in a game like this.

4. Brady was off all day. Bolden was off dropping a long gainer on the screen.

5. This NE defense is finally very good.

Supposedly, it's the equivalent of Forward progress for a RB. It matters where he was hit, not where he ends up..

Yup same thing happened in Eagles/Giants game thought it should have been a Safety but if your not dropped already in endzone for a blatent safety, their not giving 2 pts.

You must've missed "season is over" and "Brady is done", or my personal favorite "BB can't coach."

I feel like some posters join just so they can relish in the losses.

Well you know borg is somewhere in the dark, with the Broncos/Cowboys game on in the background (routing for the Broncos), aimlessly roaming patsfans, smoking a cigarette, smiling right now.

bills lost, miami lost. if the jets lose tomorrow, i wont care.

Good points I had also mentioned a) b) & 5
I know it was early in game but that Tomahawk strip on Blount WAS HUGE and a turning point Pats could have had momentum with a score ya never know turns complexion of game.

Let's go back to just after the draft. Coming out of that NE had as receivers:
* Gronk
* Hernandez
* Edelman
* Amendola
* Thompkins
* Dobson
* Boyce
* And Vereen out of the backfield

That's far, far from a "piss poor receiving corps", and our offense would have been humming merrily along with that.

* Gronk - injured every year
* Hernandez - injured every year
* Edelman -average, injured every year
* Amendola -barely plays due to injury
* Thompkins -rookie
* Dobson -rookie
* Boyce -rookie
* And Vereen out of the backfield -a RB that splits time, injured every year

How was this current piss poor receiving corps not entirely predictable? The only "X" factor in all this was Hernandez, because you'd hope with those players that you'd have enough of them to replace each other when they inevitably miss time. There was NEVER any humming along to be had. You need a "Welker" type who is an anchor both from production and presence on the field to have that. We let that go. We currently had a plethora of players who either had production or had presence, but not both. And then a ton of rookies. Rookies who will finally be coming into their own probably as TB is making his exit plus or minus a season or two.

That doesn't mean the team can't win, but offensive woes time-to-time were predictable. That's why we had so many threads about it all offseason long. It was obvious.

what we got from the game is Brady has a problem playing outdoors….err.. you should build a Dome.

:bricks::bricks::bricks::bricks::bricks::bricks:

What the Patriots need is a SNOW dome.

We didn't get the game here, and I was hoping that the D was actually performing as well as the score said. I actually told the Mrs. that I thought we'd lose this game before the game started... I knew we've been pretty meh offensively. What I thought would really do us in was the loss of Wilfork. Bouncing back to cope with that is impressive. It would/will be more impressive to see similar results against teams like the donks.

There have been some fools running around here starting that "16-0" stuff this year of all years, and it's mind-boggling. Other than that, I think everybody here understands this is way more of a gut-it-out team, a la 2001-2002.

Hope nobody's on suicide watch or has to go to anger management on this one. Sounds like bright spots along with the obvious dark spot (offensive production.)

A lot of the offensive issues resulted from boneheaded drops, as well. I wonder if Ridley might have provided some burst....Bolden had some drops and looked meh and Blount is just slow as molasses.

This is really my only huge complaint on the play calling.

2nd and goal. There was a play that involved actual TEs last week that worked in almost the exact same situation. Yet you call a play designed pass play to your LT?

How about running it one more time there? Or maybe run the same play that worked last week against the Falcons.

* Gronk - injured every year

Revisionism much? Until he broke his forearm, the only injury time he had in three years was after F***nard Pollard tried to take him out.

And it would be so cool if it actually looked like an igloo.

Yeah I hate when we abandon the run game in the red zone.

Brady did not look good today and he never dose vs a team that can rush the QB up the middle and I am also not sure why they only ran the ball 18 times in a game that was lost by just a TD way to many pass att in a bad weather game with WR's that drop a lot of passes,

the good is this defense is for real 5 weeks in and they are a top 10 defense I just wish they would have played a more old school football game with 30 or more rush att they were getting over 4 per att to...the good thing is it was on the road vs a cincy team that will not win more then 9 or 10 games this year so they will not hold any seeding ties over the pats come playoff time and I have to say 4-1 with all the injuries is pretty good

We're 1/4 of the way through the season dude. We could easily in a position to depend on tiebreakers by the end of it. That said, it's not like God annointed the Patriots to go 14-2 or better every year... it's hard for some (others) here to cope with, but sometimes we do lose.

Hopefully we don't make a habit of it, right? And it's heartening to read here about people's impression of the defense. Last thing I wanted to see was that Cincy was marching up the field but we got off the hook by weather-related flukes and the like.

Our D actually did play solid, score is. It was like Murphy's Law - What Ever Could Go Wrong, DID GO WRONG!
It's just frustration of injuries, rookies,new receivers and an adledged murder and Tom Brady dealin with this, this stage of his career.
But we are still in 1st place! Things can only look up.

They abandoned the run all over the field. Bolden averaged 4.8 and they gave it to him 5 times. And it hurt them in the passing game as well. Puzzling.
