Steve Nelson, played inside Andre in a great quartet. When I was first trying to understand football, in the mid to late 80s, there was a magazine here in the UK called Touchdown. It ran a great article about the four (Blackmon and Mc Grew being the others) with Johnny Rembert as a reserve IIRC. It gave me great insight into how linebackers work.

The answer is simple. LSU both played under Nick Saban's Belichick like scheme and both were strong recommendations by Nick. Especially gay who went undrafted and did not play the year he opted for the draft.
