I'm trying to contain my excitement for this draft class as it looks to be very good. Some UDFA's also look pretty good. Going to be a tough cutdown for sure. Can't wait for some real action this coming week.
The first 3 picks - Gonzo, White, Mapu - have all been getting rave reviews and sound like day 1 starters.

Jake Andrews hasn’t done anything at all yet, may be a year on IR or the PS for him.

Chad Ryland sounds like another day 1 starter.

Sow and Mafi have both gotten some positive buzz - nothing crazy, but good. I think I’ve heard more good press about Mafi overall. I imagine both make the team.

Boutte is starting to have a really good camp, might make the club.

Baringer is sounding excellent and is another day 1 starter.

Douglas is having an electric camp and seems likely to make the roster.

Ameer Speed hasn’t gotten a lot of press, mostly sounds involved in special teams. Possibly a PS candidate.

Isaiah Bolden has actually had a very good camp, might make the team. Getting play with the starters at times!

Out of all the drafted rookies (and it’s a big class), the only two that aren’t having a good camp are Andrews and Speed. Even UDFAs Cunningham and Heilig are having a solid camp. It’s still early but plenty of reasons to be positive about this crop. Cutdowns may be painful.

Yeah. I don't remember hearing so many rookies' names called in previous camp. Preseason is going to be really interesting to see if they flash against other teams.

It's an exceptional draft class. Lazar thinks Mafi has shown enough to possibly be the starting RG, with Onwenu to RT. That would be 6 starters: 3 defensive (1 at each level), 1 offensive, kicker and punter. Plus 5 or 6 others making the team or PS: Bolden, Boutte, Sow, Andrews, Speed, maybe Cunningham.

Does anyone know what's exactly going on with Calvin Anderson, cause he's a RT candidate too. He's been on an "illness" list since July 25th, 2 weeks ago.

You realize every team has their own “3rd teams favorite target” right?
But not every teams third teams favorite target was compared to Justin Jefferson in their college career.

Huge mistake to let the kid sniff waivers.

Belichick is telling people he's not sure Anderson will be healthy for camp. Someone on here suggested maybe Mono, which seems like it could be a possibility given the time-range we're now talking about.

Or Zappe interesting they are mixing up the starters.
I think the QB competition could be closer than people think.
It’s just reps. I would hope they give Zappe some time with the starters it’s his job as the probable backup to replace Mac when needed and at least have a sense of what it’s like to play with the 1’s…

Didn’t belichick say he cannot give any prediction? When did he give a timetable?

That was me I had mono twice was Terrible.

I lost like 10 pounds both times absolutely terrible.

Oh, compared to someone before not getting drafted until the late 6th round.
Does that make making plays against future UPS employees more valuable?

He dropped due to injuries and attitude.
If he shows he is prior to those concerns he can be a playmaker and difference maker to any club.

It was in Lazar's reporting, but maybe I read it as a firmer timetable than was reported. And Barth also said he thought Anderson would probably open the season on NFI or whatever the designation is during the season.

The reasons he dropped haven’t disappeared. If they have he will make the team here. If they haven’t perhaps someone will take a flier on him, but who cares?

All Belichick said was he cannot comment on health issues.
I think some reporters may have taken that to mean whatever they chose to but Belichick gave no hint or guess at a timetable.

Yes, I think you’re right. But I think it’s fair for people to not think it’s a day-to-day issue even if Bill didn’t say it.

Great post. Jake Andrews was a 4th round pick - he would have to be very weak to not make the team. It is doubtful he would make it to the PS. Historically guys like Boutte and Bolden are more likely to make the PS than Andrews. Having said that, it is a very deep draft, the Pats must be very happy with the last 4 drafts.
