I trust Mayo to know what a good defensive coach is, and if he wants Steven or Brian on his staff, I am good with it. I am mostly concerned with who his GM and OC is, and if they all on the same page as what the offensive plan is for 2024 and beyond. You think the Mini Belichicks are gonna stay? That's really the big unknown - who's gonna be the O savior. Get it wrong and that's another 2-3 lost years.I trust Mayo to know what a good defensive coach is, and if he wants Steven or Brian on his staff, I am good with it. Why? This makes no sense to me. Discount the guy you know because you know him? That's how they hired Bill to begin with, and that worked out. Now, I think that if there's another candidate who comes in with better qualifications, then that should 100% be taken into consideration. To throw away knowledge of a guy you've known since college seems backwards to me. Mayo shouldn't be simply handed the job, to be sure, but if all things are equal, then the 15 year relationship should absolutely be a factor. A guy walking in with a fistful of Super Bowl rings as a coordinator would 100% have an advantage, regardless of relationship with the Krafts.I’ll say it again Mayo should go thru the same interview process as any candidate should and personal relationships should be set aside.
This is why I hope Kraft hires a outside team to find a GM/Coach.
Inconceivable. What a weird thing to say.
I'm not sure what he even means.
Great take from a brilliant man
Jury is out. Let’s see what they do on Sunday.cc @sb1 who still thinks this is not a great defense
The art of pre-snap reads and post-dropback reconciliation is dying. The era of Brady, Mannings, Rivers, Roethlisberger was the end of it. Modern QBs are athletic but less cerebral.Agree with this. Teams are in gun all the time, I assume because their QBs are more comfortable with that. That's what NE did this year to accommodate Mac, and obviously it did not really bring any results. On the other side, Zappe has looked perfectly comfortable with play action and playing under center and it leads to some open reads despite lesser offensive talent.
Getting back to the over/under on shots of the luxury boxes on Sunday...
