If the Krafts actually move on from BB, is Mayo really the best choice - now?
The more you think about this moment in Pats history, I don't know if a young, defensive, first time HC is right.
It's going to be a battle for anyone new. I wonder if you need an established guy to weather the couple years of rebuild.
This is the first time I've considered this, but it could be a great fit - Jim Harbaugh.
Been through all the crap, is a fighter, a motivator, an offensive innovator, and a good QB developer.
They could keep Mayo as DC, and either Groh or bring back Zeigler as GM.
Keep a handful of "old guard" guys to keep some of the culture, but inject with new voices.

I'm 95% convinced that Belichick is coaching next year, and if he's with another team, he's going to take a lot of his guys with him. If they keep someone from the Belichick tree, that guy will be scrambling to put together more than 50%+ of a coaching staff.

Why would Mayo settle for that even though I love Jim Harbaugh. Again I am going to trust the Krafts on this we Need a Very Good GM more than ever. Mayo could be a good HC right now we don't know but I wouldn't judge him off the BB Factor that's really unfair to him.

Also, our defensive coaches are good. I'm not sure why you're down on them.

What are you looking for in a team anyway? Absolute perfection?

The rest of the league's coaches are complimenting this defense.

Upton Bell is a hater, an idiot, no idea what he's talking about. Watch Bill on the NFL 100, Do Your Job, The Two Bills, and America's Game. There's huge difference with press conferences and Bill not saying anything, grunting and snorting his way thru it and then being the walking encyclopedia on some panel. I think, in the right situation, Bill could be amazing. I don't think I want to watch him try to talk on day to day NFL stuff, but on things like I mentioned above, his knowledge of the game is fully on display.
