word is that we brought back Mills to play safety... he's no longer a cb apparently...

and per OTC, we currently have 74 players under contract
Thanks That means we only have 16 more players left to sign. If we add the 11 picks and 3 UDFA's that we usually have in camp, we only have TWO slots left for the full FA market. Not a lot, which leads me to believe we will be trading at least 2 of those picks to move up or into next year. 11 picks really are too many rookies when you figure keeping 6 is a sign of a great draft class. Why make all those picks when you are going to only keep 6 or 7, Better to use them to move up or out into 2024

When I use the PFN mock draft site, I always get offers to trade down into the 20's and take 2nd's and 3rd next year. I always reject them. If we are trading down I want picks in the 2nd and 3rd. THAT's where I feel the real value is this year. So unless the guy who is #1 on our board is there (ie Witherspoon or Jones/Johnson), I'd DEFINITELY trade down. Then use those 4th round picks to trade UP in the 2nd and 3rd. rounds

I recently did a mock where I traded down to 27 and got late 2nd and 3rd. Harrison OT with 27, and got a TE (washington) and CB (Forbes) in the 2nd So basically I sacrificed getting a top 3 CB for adding the 4th or 5th best OT and getting a needed TE and grabbing a "nice: CB prospect in the second. I also added a 2nd CB with great size from bama (Ricks) and a 2nd TE in Laporta in the 3rd. We needed both and they were the best players when I picked.

Patriots still have all 10 of last year's draftees, plus a couple of rookie UFA's.

The guy showed signs of being decent in 2021, but couldn't even make it onto the field last year even when the Pats were forced to play a tackle they signed off another team's practice squad. So maybe they can salvage the guy. But I ain't holding my breath.

It's a riskless way to add depth to your roster utilizing an old draft choice.

Look at it this way. If he has a great season and justifies his salary, Cajuste is likely gone next year anyway as a UFA.

so it's basically a lateral depth signing...hope he can stay healthy...this squad needs all the O line help it can muster
So, basically, they can cut him easily enough during camp if they've drafted more than one OT or if Stueber pans outs.

just Bill the GM playing chess while everyone plays checkers

Historically they usually have more than 3, my gut says closer to 10. I also expect they won't draft 11 players. My guess right now is 9.

Agreed, it is easy to find someone to cut to sign a FA.

My HOPE is 9 and wouldn't mind 8.
