No one has made one yet... and seeing we are less than a week away, and the smoke has cleared from the cuts, we may as well start talking about the game. I thought of calling this 'We're onto Seattle" or "We're onto the Regular Season". But feels like we should drop the BB stuff maybe? IDK.

Anyway here is my main take away. There is a massive amount of pregame disrespect in the mainstream media.




Yeah... I am not buying that. I think the Pats surprise much of the world and win this game. Assuming Gonzo plays, which i think he will. I expect a hard fought one though. But who knows... week 1 can be silly.

What I believe is going to happen is we are going to get up early on Seattle 7-10 points.. Seattle will then have to throw. That will play into our hands defensively.. kurh wants to be aggressive expect exotic blitz packages from the front 7.. however this all hinges on number 0 being out there... Josh as I'm sure he's done so.. should be looking at how the rams scored all over the seahawks in NFCCG. The formula to win is on offense. Sam Darnold isn't going to beat us on offense himself

Love it.. I'm going to say 10-14 points we allow to Seattle. Outside of JSN I'm not overly impressed with thier offense. Just my opinion.

Seahawks fans are very confident that they'll pick up where they left off.

Another big game for Maye. Opening night is like a mini Super Bowl with all the festivities and hype. Its probably going to be rocky for a while until the offense gets into rhythm.

Patiots fans are very confident that Seattle won't be able to sit in 2 high looks all game like the superbowl. It starts up front for us offensively. This game is a get back for the entire offense. AJ changes Seattle's coverage and doubts is no slouch. Pop will be the biggest beneficiary of having AJ. Hes uncoverable in the slot and middle of the field. I think we move the ball on them and Hollins can Deebo Seattle in the run game.

Absolutely agree. Getting the run game going is the priority. Seattle is a good team but they aren't this unbeatable team. I love us being counted out!

Hope Henderson can go but it doesn't look like it right now.
Mondre has had a great preseason and Gilliam is really gonna help. Seattle is tough to run on but they can't cover everything

I got it from a reddit thread for the Seahawks that was about the upcoming game this week. I assumed it was up to date and didn't check it. Since then it has been taken down there. I will do the same. Should have double checked. My fault.

Our offense will have the time and talent to challenge them on the outside. This game is a toss-up.

Thoughts on the game.

Clearly the Pats are better time time around. They have upgraded 3-4 spots on offense massively. WR1 and WR2 will both be better. Brown/Doubs > Diggs/Boutte. They also should be better at LT and G (Campbell year 2 looks better and is healthy... And AVT is better than Wilson at guard. Center is questionable. Bradbury was one of the worst starting centers in the NFL... but he was starting caliber. Is Wilson? Unknown. As for TE/RB... I assume a bit better. Cause Henderson yr 2 should be better than year 1. And Raridon will probably make more of an Impact than Hooper... though mostly a wash there for game 1. But Hunter is Hunter. As for WR depth... probably better. They badly need Williams to do something this game if they want to be likely to win. He is more in a position to do that.

So yes... a better unit almost everywhere. Some places much better.

Defense... Assuming Gonzo plays... should be better too . Byard at safety is an upgrade. Woodson year 2... they will be better back there.

LB is the same, unless an injury happens.

The DL is the question though... Is Jones > Chaisson? I think so but we will see. Does Ponder year 2 matter that much. Landry barely played that game. So they won't miss him as much. Jennings was one of the key edge guys... So they were bad that game. As for DT... no Tonga will hurt. Yeah... Unless Ponder comes out is is just plain good... it will be hard to say they have improved here much. Given what they have lost. And Jacas probably won't help much yet. The big fear of this game is the DL being unable to get pressure and being to light to stop what should be a rather weak run game.

As for the Seahawks they lost some notable pieces. Mafu - Edge, Walker - RB, Bryant - S, Woolen - CB. They gained Dante Fowloer. Leonard Williams and a few more... but it doesn't make up for it.

Also Charbonnet on IR puts the rookie Price at RB1. I think he can do fine... but for a team that needs to run, this is early. They are better in some places due to guys maturing perhaps, but roughly the same or worse... Particularly in the secondary. But their DL may well be better. If our OL holds they have a shot.

I think the offensive line will look very different from the one the Seahawks attacked in February. They looked great against the Eagles defensive front seven in camp - big, strong, quick off the line. Drake had lots of time to find his receivers who more than held their own against the Philadelphia secondary. The practice I attended got chippy and there was no backing down by the Patriots.

This will probably be a rock fight and a great test of where the #1s are on both sides of the ball. I also think our defense is underappreciated by the national news media and locally. All of the players designated as linebackers are versatile, quick and can play standing up or with a hand in the dirt.

Having the OC and DC in place with Vrabel for a second straight season is an advantage. This coaching staff is outstanding. 2025 doesn't happen unless the the team was prepared for every game. I bet they've shown them film of the Oakland Raiders game opener from last year and emphasized being ready for this one.

Underrated/important storylines:

-Nick Emmanwori may not be 100% for this matchup. HUGE.

-Rookie RB Jadarian Price hasn’t taken a single meaningful snap throughout the offseason. This will be his very first time being hit in a professional game. Can we capitalize on turnovers??; assuming he fumbles…

-None of their corners can cover AJ consistently. Witherspoon is too small. Woolen is in Philly…AJ will have his Thanksgiving bird early on the west coast this year. Not to mention, Doubs..

-Their offensive coordinator Brian Fleury has never called plays offensively. His background is on defense. (Defensive quality control coach & ST are his forte..) He’s coached TEs in SF for 3 years.

-Stop. The. Run. Seattle is known to be persistent with their run game. They will continue to run until something breaks open and/or to set up play action. Most of their big runs in the SB, happened while we were in our base defense.

-Beware of TE AJ Barner. He’s sneaky good. Complete TE. I believe he burned Gibbens for a TD on a play action play in the Super Bowl.

-Beware of Seattle’s ST. They are excellent & very sound. Shaheed is elite in this respect.

-Protect Maye. We win.

* If they get to Drake constantly it'll be an unfortunate sign that Campbell truly isn't our future LT. I'm still hoping for the best and that his drop in play was from the injury.

* If our punting game ****s the bed again I am going to be apoplectic. I still have no ****ing clue why we didn't bring in serious competition at that position. Adding Haack like a ****ing week and a half ago is like, a brain-damaged choice. Like seriously - I'd really love to know why they saw Baringer's play in the SB and were like "nah, no need to bring in another P this offseason. Honest, he's almost as high in the list of players who helped us lose the SB as a punter can get in my opinion. Still in shock about how Punter was handled this offseason.

Haack was an emergency fill in.

IMO, they saw how he f-ed up the kicker on holds and they shifted gears to the Buffy cut guy, whose name I can’t spell so won’t try (and then blame on autocorrect).

ST is still a big ? mark; not just cause of new P and kick holder, but also so many rookies & new to the team vets on ST. Let’s see how good our renowned ST coach really is. If they go flawless Wed, I personally will credit him.

Little nugget: Seattle hasn’t allowed a 100 yard rusher in 26 games. We don’t technically need that in order to win, but it sure wouldn’t hurt our chances. Then again, who needs that when both AJ & Doubs will have 300+ yards a piece..
