Now that the regular season is over and we have a few weeks before the Pats play again I thought it would be a good time for the Patriots Regular Season Awards. Here are the categories:

Defensive Player of the Year: Malcolm Butler, still playing like a top CB in the league
Special Teams Player of the Year: Slater (great punt coverage)
Rookie of the Year: Joe Thuney
Comeback Player of the Year: Dion Lewis, doesn't have the stats, but looks good in return
Nicest Surprise of the Year: tie, Malcolm Mitchell and Trey Flowers
Play of the Year: Brady fumble recovery TD pass to Mitchell at NYJ (great stuff)
Willie McGinest Leadership Award: Bennett, great locker room pickup
Disappointment of the Year: Gronk (obviously due to injury, but only 25 receptions from this matchup nightmare), non injury disappointment would be Logan Ryan (tough to replicate last year's success, but had to pick someone)

Edit: updated rookie of the year from Mitchell to Thuney after remembering he is a rookie

@Boomer B No '(assistant) coach of the year' honors for anyone on the staff this season? smh...gotta find a way to give Scarneccia credit for what's he done with the O-line! :D

Given he was sent to cleveland for some pocket lint and s bag of balls, i believe he is excluded.

Hmm, I don't think I can get on board with this one. If we're saying "most disappointing player to remain on BB's roster" we might as well go with "most improved player to be cut and out of football."

Collins started the year regarded as one of the team's top players and even a DPOY candidate, and he ended it shipped out of town for the aforementioned bag of lint balls. It's hard to get more disappointing than that.
