Patriots Reportedly Prepping To Lose LeGarrette Blount; Who's The Next Man Up?

Man, I hope not... I love what that dude brings to the team... from the ridiculous...

to the sublime...

Really want to keep him. But if he's gone... LGB... from all of us in Pat Nation...

...a 21-gun salute. Thank you!!!!

If some other team signs him (again), pays him a signing bonus (again), then cuts him just in time for another playoff run (again), RG will think of some reason to screw us.

I want him back and he wants to be back but I can definitely see a team that is a run-first team being very interested in him and for much more money. So I can't blame him for wanting to get paid if that's the case. I mean if he can run for over 1,000 yards and lead the league in TDs with NE, a team that runs the ball to set up the pass, (obviously with the GOAT at QB) then it's not hard to believe a team that can run it would pay him good money, especially a team with QB issues like Houston or Denver.

There's a ton of places he could end up depending on what the cost is but he really seems like the type of guy that loves the fans and loves being here. He walked away from pretty good money in Pittsburgh to play for less than a mil here because being happy was more important than the money to him. But when you make 700k it's hard not to look over your shoulder when someone's offering you a $24-$30 mil contract lol.

Whatever he decides, I thank him for 2 SBs and for being a good teammate and model citizen.

Based on what happened the last time Blount left and his actions since, I got the sense that he would be a Patriot for life. I still kind of think that way.... that said, it might be a situation similar to Joe Andruzzi where some team makes an absurd offer to Blount, Blount tells Belichick, and Belichick tells him he can't match and he absolutely would be crazy not to take the offer. That's the only way I'm seeing Blount voluntarily leaving.

I hope he stays and hopefully he is realistic with his contract. He is good, but not great, so I wouldn't break the bank for him. But I like the guy and he fits in well here.

I thank him for his service but lets be real he is toast. BB knows it and that is why he is not gonna try to sign him back. He wore down as the year went on and will wear down fast next year. He will not be productive in the playoffs. If that is the case why sign him?

I think this is precisely what will happen. He had the best season of his career, albeit suffering a drop off in the second half. Someone's going to pay for that. I still feel he cost himself a little bit with the underwhelming playoff run he had, but we'll never really know. He's going to get a good offer nonetheless.

Thanks, LG!

One of my favorite Patriots of the last 10 years. But if he leaves, I think he can be replaced with a better player. He was a negative in the last 2 SBs.

But turned out to be a model citizen and helped the Pats GET to 2 SBs, so I'll be sad to see him go. I'm torn, rather see him back in a Pat's jersey for a couple of years, but I don't think he'll take a hometown discount, especially after an 1100 yard season.

Is there going to be a big market for a 30+ running back who averaged less than 4 YPC? I guess it is free agency.

It's funny, he averaged 4.3 YPC last year and was garbage according to most. But he ran for 18 TDs this season (averaging only 3.9 YPC) and over 1,000 yards, and everyone thought he had a good year. Fantasy football I guess.

Loved Blount here, he got too much blame and too much credit, he was a decent back and we definitely got our money's worth. Will miss him if he leaves, but not for long. Hope he signs a huge deal elsewhere, not because he's worth it, but good dude and would be happy to see him get paid. Just not by us.

Blount has been a really good Patriot but I think Belichick is going to move in from him. I hope he does well as long as it doesn't hurt the Patriots. It would be nice if an NFC team three stupid money at him.

A.P. or Alfred Morris please.

I would prefer to keep Blount, but if he decides to go elsewhere I would love to sign DeAngelo Williams to a cheap 1 year deal and draft someone in the mid rounds like Jamaal Williams. DeAngelo might be a dinosaur in terms of NFL RBs but I think he may have a little left. You don't lose your vision or instincts as a RB and that is what DeAngelo's game is built on. As a rotational guy I think he can still be a contributor for the 2017 season.

He has been excellent for the Pats, except for that darn SB fumble lol. Whether he ends up back in NE or somewhere else best of luck to LG.

A.P. or Alfred Morris please.

Pass. I'd love for them to sign Gilleslee to an offer sheet. All he does is vulture TDs from my fantasy RB1 Shady. Seriously, his TD per game played average is insane and the Bills were comfortable playing him all three downs. He isn't Blount sized but 220 lbs is plenty big enough to handle lead back volume.

I'm still high on Tyler Gaffney. I wouldn't quite give up on him yet. They gave him a good opportunity last year in preseason, Blount win the job, but they still kept him in the PS.

If not him, this is a deep draft for RB.

I hope he stays but if he gets silly money elsewhere then good luck to him. I wouldn't begrudge him a big payday elsewhere.
