An important point: we haven't really heard anything about why they haven't reached a new deal. It's also worth noting that the longer it takes, (A) the more it will cost, but (B) they are working on new media deals which will likely increase the salary cap significantly.

I think it's going to come down to whether he wants top CB money or top defender money. The first they can do, the second they can't. If he wants 40 million a season then trade him after next season for a 1st round pick.
