they have too many questions at OL, QB, WR, CB
Pretty much all the worst spots to have too many questions. QB is the big one... if Mac plays like he did last season then none of the other positions will matter.

Can't have a questionable secondary either. Not in today's NFL or with the schedule they have.

Hey all.. With the Patriots Over/Under on Wins starting at 7.5 I'm curious what you all think.

Also curious if people have used Online Sports Books. If you have, I'd like to PM you a question about the "Legalities".
I use an online/offshore sports book as sports gambling is illegal where I live. Online Sportsbook - BookMaker I deposit with a credit card and then withdraw by getting a check sent to me. The check comes from Canada, so when I deposit it, it gets deposited as a foreign check (but is in U.S. funds). Max withdraw of $3,000 every week. Good thing I suck so bad that I've never had to hit the maximum. :(

Realistically, they should have won 10 games last season, and I think most would agree they're an improved team since then. Tough schedule but with the BoB return and personnel upgrades, I definitely say Over.
BOB gives them 3,4 wins they couldn't get last season.. the defense alone will keep them in every game.. I don't see this team even when they loose getting embarrassed this season. I've said 11-12 wins personally myself.. this season

Get D-Hop and WR is immediately a Strength.
I have them... 11-12 wins. It's important for then to come out strong against the eagles. Get the taste of last season done and away with. Brady will be in the building at least win it for him!

Their first 4 games are PHI, MIA, @NYJ, @DAL... best case scenario is 2-2.

Then 5 games before the bye are NOR, @LVR, BUF, @Mia, WAS... best case scenario is 3-2.

First 4 games after the bye are IND, @NYG, LAC, @PIT... this has to be at least 3-1.

Finishing 4 games are KAN, @DEN, @BUF, NYJ... best case scenario is 2-2.

10 wins is their ceiling with most everything going their way. 11 wins would require 1 or 2 major upsets and 0 letdowns. You can forget about 12 wins.

Yeah.. that's a realistic scenario.. nationally we are being rated off of last season's debacle. So this is an opportunity for them come out and set the tone. It's just so hard for me to say how we get to 11 wins becuase there could be teams we are expecting to beat and lose too and then nive versa..

I believe what is comes down too is how do they LOOK this season.. even when we were winning championships we had hiccups..

I have BOB as the OC and the schedule as a net wash.
===========================
So, we won 8 last year. We should review position by position, and then add for the OL coach.

It seems to me that we are much improved,

This is true even at OT, unless you really prefer Wynn at RT. We added Anderson, Reiff and even McDermott. Even our guards could be backups. Sure, this is still our weakest position. So? It isn't lots WORSE than last year when we won 8 games.

OT - improved
OG - improved
OC - same (perhaps a bit worse)
TE - improved
RB - same
WR - same
QB - same

DL - improved (White is an improvement over Guy, and Guy might stay)
LB - same or a bit better
CB - improved
S - worse

ST - improved
P - improved
K - same
=========
Sure, this is optimistic. I didn't list any positions that are clearly worse, except safety and perhaps C. Move a couple of more to "worse' and we still are better overall.

If it still close in your mind, add the effect of the greatly improved OL coach, and a greatly improved QB coach.

9 or 10 wins should give us a shot at the playoffs.

I think they’ll be over. Not by a lot, but definitely over. If they win 7 or less games…

*edited* Also, so much of it can change in a heartbeat. Who are the Jets if AR goes down? Who are Bills if Allen misses time? A lot of the teams we face are one injury away from being a completely different team. I’m not wishing for it to happen but it definitely does.

I never give a **** about strength of schedule. By the end of the season it’s “WTF happened to that team?”. Just too many different factors. Projecting the future is foolhardy IMO.

I'm not a gambler but if I were, I'd bet the fahhm on the over.
But as a fan, I love it when people underestimate the Patriots. Being an underdog has always suited them well

I think we're at 10.5
Everyone is betting on MIA to keep improving - but Tua is a huge risk. And lots of coaches have sophomore slumps too.
The world is continuing to slobber over Rogers as they always do. But NY is a different animal. They won't be given anything.
I think we win 10 for sure. And with some good health and lucky bounces, that could definitely go up to 12.
Remember just how inept and ludicrous this team was last year with Matty P running / ruining our offense.

Absolutely! I like to use the eye test with the NFL.. that's the best barometer to see. A play here or there could be the deciding factor in a game. How does the team look.. how does the offense look is what I'm paying attention to. As I mentioned before we need to come out strong against Philly..

7-8 wins seems about right

Just a random fact that Raiders currently have 11 former Patriot players on their roster. That's insane.

Also, I'm starting the prediction that the Bills stumble this year. I won't be surprised if they don't win the division. I think all 3 teams will be very competitive and this should be another year where it's a tight divisional contest. If Allen doesn't seriously adjust his playing style, he's going to get hurt again, and that will change everything. And, if he seriously adjusts his playing style, they may not be as good.
It's going to be an exciting year.

What I want to know is, where can I lock in that action before news breaks that DHop signed with the Pats?
