7th round pick Hutchins in trouble for domestic violence?

Well, at least he can pay his legal bills with his $122k signing bonus.

That might be all he gets as I don't think anything else in his 4 yr $4 million contract is guaranteed. If this is a first offense and it's a family argument he'd probably be put on probation or in a diversionary program rather have this even go down as a misdemeanor, but it still remains to be seen if they want to make an example of him

Seems like it was a fiance who he believes cheated. He wanted ring back. She wouldn’t. He took her phone until she gave ring back then threw her phone. But was also see by a dorm RA putting hands on her.

Emotional, immature action from a heartbroken young man.

His parents didn’t hammer “NEVER put your hands on a woman” hard enough.

If he learns from it he can recover.

Maybe just not here.

If this is true then I feel bad for him if the phone and ring part is true. Emotionally I could see myself doing the same thing. If he put his hands on her then he’s a dope. Especially since he just started an NFL career.

Depends on how it went down. If she threw the first punch is he prevented from self defense?

What’s he supposed to do? Turn his back and walk away? Turning your back on someone who just swung at you is a real smart move right?

Where’d you get the details about ring and phone? They weren’t in the linked story that I saw. EDIT: I see they’re in the ESPN story, which I read after posting this.

That story said he went to get his things and sounds like she initiated hostilities. Then after arrest he was released on personal recognizance, and she was regretting and downplaying the incident.

Seems he may be more victim than perpetrator. We’ll see how it plays out.

Just cut him & trade for Will Campbell & Myles Garrett

Yes it's a 7th but all the more reason this was a head scratcher pick.

Yep. At that point of the draft, the better value & potential lay with either Utah's Logan Fano or - my choice - Wisconsin's Mason Reiger...
