Yeah, though I might prefer to wait a year and get a vet to keep the QB seat warm and go for a higher QB next year. Or leverage a future 1 and take two 1sts this year.
NO TRADES I'm for standing Pat we would just screw that up nope...

I guess the way I look at it is Mills was a functional fill in for the Texans until they got serious and got Stroud. I'm not sure I want to invest in a 2nd round QB and go through a few middling seasons before deciding to draft a QB in the 1st.

I don't hate that idea, but the odds of a second round QB making it to the Super Bowl or winning are so slim.
I guess I am not sold on Williams or Maye yet. I like McCarthy, Ewers and Daniels much better. Williams mostly because of size, but the emotional meltdown this weekend is not great IMO. Yeah, I know he's a kid. Not that I am an expert by any stretch. Not even a little bit.

Maye, Penix or Nix i'd be OK with.

Still a lot of time to analyze and scrutinize each player.

I have been watching more college football this year than I have 30 years.
I've been watching my kid's high school's football team this year. It's been fun and tickets are a lot cheaper.

I don't watch any college, so I'm at the mercy of the analysts for who is a good QB. The Mac draft class has been an eye opener about how hard it is to get even a functional starter.

Exactly. None of us have the experience and training to say who is a better fit for the NEP.

I watched the entire U of Wash/Utah game and from my view Penix looked damn good to me. Cannon arm with nice touch. Athletic. Huge hands. Can play in cold weather. Hits receivers in stride and throws away from the DB side. Def has top talent. No question hes a top 10 pick.

.....but

What is his mental toughness? Leadership? Will to win? Do his teammates follow him? Can he make quick decisions? Intelligence? Thats what separates successful, franchise QBs from Ryan Leaf.

I find that I am ever the skeptic on the NFL, and I have found some of the outcomes to be too scripted for my taste. Not that I think it's scripted, but I've watched it and thought "wow they really want _____ to win".

Hope we he makes me eat these words but instead of Mapoo we could have had TE Sam Laporta - WR's Tan Dell or WR Michael Wilson. Nice going Bill how's our Offense doing??
Sam la porta went 34 . No chance we had. He was a stud in the making and I wanted us to draft him in r2 . Sadly he went much higher.

Tank dell was binkie of many here on the forum. I was just too scared of his thin legs and Marcus Jones like comparison .

I think we need to move Marcus to offense and be done with the Thornton experiment .

Just for info in case you are not aware re Pennix injury history.

Agree. I'm not saying it's a bad idea. I just think, looking at the statistics, 1st round picks tend to do better at being better QBs.
And it’s not really arguable. You want a franchise guy, the statistics say you need to get it in the top 10.

The QB class is atrocious in 2025. It is a lot easier to find good receiver than good QB so If you have the chance to take a QB in a good QB class you do it!

How many SB does Calvin Johnson or Randy Moss have? Vikings are 5-0 without Jefferson. QB is still the most important piece.

There are 7 potential franchise QBs in draft this year. Do not sleep on Jayden Daniels from LSU.

I would be very happy if we got Alt in round 1.
