Noticed a Tweet from Nick Underhill citing a report that says Boyce is signed to a deal worth $2.637 million including a $477,000 bonus.

Good, good really like this new CBA... nothing seems all that drawn out.

It would not shock me if Boyce doesn't make the team.

His style of play reminds me of Victor Cruz

Everyone seems to be putting Boyce into the slot or Split end (X) WR receiver position. I beg to differ, I believe he better fits into the classic "Flanker" position, opposite the bigger Split End or X position. Flankers were generally smaller, faster and shiftier but deep route running receivers.

So while Dobson and Jenkins (Harrison & Thomkins) compete for the Split End, I think Boyce, Dodd and Hawkins compete at Flanker.

Amendola, Edelmen and Moe compete for the short slot receiver routes.

Amendola's apparently been lining up outside an awful lot, who knows if its to get comfortable with that position as we already know what he can do from the slot, or if its a sign of how we intend to use him more than most expect.

It would shock me, since BB has not cut a player drafted in the first four rounds before his rookie season starts, not even Kareem Brown in 2007.

I would be absolutely flabbergasted. Outright shocked x10.

What would be the point in drafting someone if you weren't even going to give them a chance trying to learn and understand the offense?

I'm still defending the potential cut of Jake Bequette, and he's actually been here for a year. There haven't been many players who Belichick has even cut in his 2nd year, let alone first.

Respectfully, I will disagree; I would be extremely shocked if Boyce is not on the 53-man roster in week one.

Since Bill Belichick took over in 2000, the Pats have selected 63 players in the fourth round or earlier in the NFL draft. Excluding players that went on IR (e.g., Tyrone McKenzie due to his blowing out his knee in rookie mini camp), not a single one of those players did not make the team roster.

The last time a 4th round pick of the Patriots did not make the initial roster was all the way back in 1994, when the Pats waived DT Ervin Collier from Florida A&M, who was drafted 78th overall in the third round.

Ironically Collier was not the only early draft pick to not make the roster for the Pats that year. Another third round pick, center Dave Burch from Texas Southern was also a final training camp cut. Perhaps his biggest claim to fame was that he was to be part of a group of seven players to be released by the Pats that day - one of whom was an 8th round draft pick from the previous year by the name of Troy Brown.
