I looked around and didn't see anyone else mentioning this but it looks like the Patriots are now expanding what was previously one of the smallest personnel departments in the NFL under BB.

Casey Belongia -> Midwest Area Scout.

Marquis ****erson -> Pro scout.

Sam Fioroni -> Assistant director of pro personnel.

Alonso Highsmith -> Senior personnel executive.

Bob Kronenberg -> Pro scout.

Marshall Oium -> Director of Football Strategy. (New position).

A.J. Richardson -> Scouting assistant.

Patrick Stewart -> Director of pro personnel.

In my opinion our drafting and scouting has been a glaring weakness over the past decade. So it's important to continue getting more eyes and ears into the recruitment team.

When will these changes pay off? That could be a while down the road, but with better quality and quantity of information obtained, this allows the 'brain trust' to make better decisions on obtaining the right players.

Hopefully this works out for the better and the Patriots continue to improve this department. It would be nice to get back to winning again.

good idea to expand the personnel department... brings much needed depth, expertise and new opinions to the table...

i really hope this helps with the future drafts and free agency, where we can restock and maintain/keep a solid core of younger players, retaining the guys we need to keep and letting the guys walk who need to find greener pastures... while I am a BB fan there were times he made me go huh? with some of his moves... looking forward to see what the new crew brings to the table

They made a measly salary too misery loves company. Glad GM Wolf expanded that department that's how Teams select Gems and not Reaches because they interview well.

@Clonamery

i didn't start the thread, merely replied...

There is one new position. Wolfe & Groh, still here.

The bigger changes are on the coaching side.

looks like there is a lot more than just one new position...

senior personnel director is a new role (alonso highsmith)
football strategy is a new role (marshall oium)
director of pro personnel is a new role (captain jean luc picard patrick stewart)
asst. director of pro personnel is a new role (sam fioroni)
evp of football business is a new role (robyn glaser)

and yes, you are correct - the wholesale changes on the coaching staff will have a much more direct impact on the fortunes of the team...

I heard on WEEI, SB was making 2 million in salary... was that the reason why the former staff was so small? Maybe they had to eat Popeyes becuase they couldn't afford to buy steak.. LOL

Too bad that Al Groh’s kid is still in the building and getting cut a check. Dude ****ing Sucks.

I wouldn't be so harsh. He had a unique philosophy when it came to the Draft, which was if you want fast players, you better draft players who are fast.

We would have never landed Tyquan without that kind of keen insight.
