Football 101. Once the ballcarrier crosses the goal with pocession of the ball, it doesn't matter if he fumbles 100 times. He clearly had crossed the plane of the goal with pocession, so it doesn't matter.

Good point, didn't even think about that. Mahoney should still start.

A) B) I don't understand why the Pats would keep Cobbs as a #4 RB. Evans would be a much more valuable option, as he would "start" at FB. Cobbs likely be inactive every week, because there simply wouldn't be enough touches available behind Dillon, Maroney, and Faulk.
Short term, Evans might be more valuable as he could start at FB..but I would hate to lose Cobbs. He's got soft hands and is a hard nosed runner..certainly much better than any of the rookie backs brought in in recent years..He's a steal as a UDFA and if they believe he might be a possible replacement for Faulk in the future...he would be a perfect 4th RB. If they keep 2 QBs, finding 8 inactives is not going to be easy...so having a most likely one at RB..helps that situation and grooms him for the future. PDquad might be a good place for him, but I just think he has shown too much promise NOT to get grabbed by some team.

Quite possibly one of the best set of rb's in the league. QUOTE]

Well, with everyone healthy we look pretty good. Subtract an injured LoMo from the formula and we have a rapidly aging Dillon, a third down back in Faulk who can't carry a load, and then who? Cobbs? He's got a lot more to show to even make the team, so he's going to save us? Pass and Evans are JAGs that have bright moments.

Dillon's 10 by 26 last night was pretty ugly except for the TD run. Basically, we are back in the RB blackhole of last year if LoMo is injured. It's a pipe dream to think that Dillon matches Lomo's output this year. Actually, the very idea is a nightmare - for opposing teams because both stay healthy and Dillon goes John Riggins on the NFL, or a nightmare for us if LoMo falls and Dillon matches Maroney's limited performance with his own 500 yd season.
