Patriots Draft Profile: Jordan Willis

The Patriots are thin at defensive end; Jabaal Sheard has left via free agency and Chris Long has said that he isn’t coming back in 2017. The team did pick up Kony Ealy from the Carolina Panthers in a trade. That leaves him, Trey Flowers, Rob Ninkovich, and Geneo Grissom. Flowers came on and was fantastic down the stretch and into the playoffs. Ninkovich seems to be on the downside of a very solid career here in New England. Grissom was strictly a STs guy. So, they’ll need to add some depth.

He's showing up in round one in quite a few mocks, so I'm doubtful that he makes it to 72. I would like to add him to the team, but without a Butler or Garoppolo trade, I just don't see him being available.

My reviews of Willis are a little harsher, but only because I have concerns about his ability to immediately contribute. He does have the highest potential upside of the edge rushers, though, and I'm actually in favor of bringing him aboard. I just doubt he lasts until our pick, and I am tempering my expectations about his performance level until he improves his ability to disengage from blocks.
