Jackson's "whiff" on the long TD was initially caused by a well-executed pick-play. The fact that he caught up was a positive. The fact that he didn't stop the TD, when it appears that he could have, is a negative. It's highly unlikely that he'll clear waivers to the PS, though.
It seemed to me that CJ played a quietly good and very confident game at CB, and also as a returner. McCarron might still be kept as a reserve WR/returner while Edelman is no suspension, but I feel that CJ might be more useful over the course of the season.
Webb could conceivably make the 53 over Gillislee as a temporary sub. Either way, it seems like one of Burkhead or Michel would need to end up on IR/Eligible to Return to make a spot. It seem unlikely to me that Webb would clear waivers.
Keionta Davis also seems unlikely to clear waivers to the PS. Crossen and Ryan Lewis also seem likely to be claimed.
I don't think that playing in game-4 is necessarily "a bad sign" for JMac. The Pats saw him take the first snaps of his career at safety last week. It seems to me that, if they hadn't liked what they saw, they'd have likely cut him this past week as a courtesy to give him more time to catch a CB job elsewhere.
As a vested veteran, JMac is not subject to waiver claims, so he could still be cut temporarily in order to move another player to IR/Eligible to Return.
Pretty much any of the three temps could be PS worthy, especially KJ Maye, who I thought might make the PS out of Camp last season. He looked improved last night, in spite of having no Camp. Anyway, none of these three seems likely to be claimed off waivers.
