Can someone explain to me what the coaches saw on film that made them think this would be a good idea?

<<< GASP!!! >>>So you're telling me there was a plan?
They thought they could win without touching or pressuring the other teams QB.
Worst defensive game plan in super bowl history
4 safety defense , Eagles never punted once all game
5 minutes before kickoff have your starting box SS play slot corner, slot guy play outside CB, your FS cover the TE, and field 2 guys who shouldn't even be in the NFL.

It was essentially the same strategy they have been using right along and in previous games, the defense would get better over the course of the game and make a stop at the end. The Eagles were the better team especially in the OL vs Pats D line. Sometimes the other team is better or just plays better. We always need to blame someone for our failures when sometimes its just someone else's success.Blitzed on 45% of the snaps and brought pressure most of the time. You are attacking strategy and scheme for no reason when it was just individual matchups that were lost across the board.
