I said when the Pats drafted Dowling that he would replace Meriweather not Bodden. I still think that may be the case. You watch this guy play in college and he looked like a safety in his play.
I knew that at the most Meriweather would be on the roster through this season. Felt there was a chance he would be traded before this year (obviously, I didn't realize they wouldn't be able to trade him).
The thing I don't get is that everyone in the media says you cannot convert a rookie from CB to safety this quickly and be successful as if the Pats never did it with Eugene Wilson. Granted Dowling wouldn't have Harrison and Law helping him out in the secondary which is significant, but the Pats have done it before.
I can only think BB sees Dowling as our future FS. I hope so, the kid has got game.
