Dion Lewis is a good player with nice moves and fun to watch but he only played a few games. Let him earn his narratives. Great is Brady and Gronk and even edelman. Edelman earned his after winning the Super Bowl, he was just like Lewis his early years. Dynamic player but injuries and playing behind welker slowed him down. To be great you have to be tough, consistent, and durable, even BB has said those are the qualities you need to be a great player. Glad he is on our team and if can continue helping us win then yeah, he will be a great player.

You're confusing me with someone else.

I realize some other loopy dude said that.

Lewis was a great change of pace back for 6 games. I'll certainly give him that. Definitely in that Sproles w/NO mold. Same type of impact and production. He was the best we had since Faulk was in his prime. He actually remind me a lot of Brian Westbrook with Philly. Westbrook had a couple of great years. I wouldn't call him a great player either, though.

Has to take physical, get uniform, etc.
Physical yes, other than that, he should get his ass in boxers to practice. He has to make Brady like him! Rent a tent and sleep on Brady's lawn.

not trying to be a wise ass here, but what are the chances Williams starts against the Eagles?

According to my crystal ball, Bolden starts before Williams. Just winging it here, but as a proven NFL commodity I believe Johnson has a better chance of getting in ahead of Williams (with some versatility as both returner and WR, and even some RB in college). As WR, Johnson can do some of what Edelman did (going in motion and taking a quick handoff to get to the edge on short yardage situations).

My guess:

If he's not practicing by tomorrow, there's no chance he plays.

If he does practice, I would say there's a 15% chance of him playing.

Either way, I think next week in Houston will be his coming out party. Tough to get someone up to speed in two days, especially in this offense, even for a RB.

The kid looks incredibly fast. Maybe it's because he's short or something, but some of his highlights look like they're sped up, like olde Babe Ruth footage.

Well he hits the hole faster than any RB that Pats have right now, so that's good.

"Don't ask him to pass protect"

Rut roh.

If I rent a tent and sleep on Brady's lawn, do you think they will let me play? I'm only 54...

Can we stop this ******** and proper definition of "great"?

Lewis was a GREAT PLAYER. He was the BEST satellite back in the entire NFL this year. That makes him GREAT. An injury does not take that way. When he has been healthy to play, he has proven his value. Injuries do not take away greatness.
If Gronk went down his rookie year with a career ending injury, it would not change the fact that he was a great football player. It does not matter how little he would have benefited his team, this is about him as an individual and his abilities.

If your abilities are great, you are great. Sometimes it doesn't work how we want, but it does not change the skill that is there.

Not every great player is a HOF player -- that's what takes consistency.

We should all have something better to do than argue about what the definition of "great" is. Watch him play, if he looks great, he's ****ing great.
But what's your definition of great?

The Eagles are really struggling at 4-7 with 3 losses in a row. I think the game will be a great opportunity to get Trey on the field often on Special Teams, Returning and 3rd down back IMO. Running back is one of the easier positions to learn (not that any are actually easy...especially in the Patriots playbook).

I would expect to see him on the field often if were up by 20+.

I would love to see Goodell's*/League's* face not to mention Haters, Mediots If Williams plays anything close to these hightlights....... 'caus this is what we do!

Lot of God awful defense but what I was interested in the most was his open space ability and he's got plenty of it. Hopefully he'll be even half of what Dion Lewis was.

Uhhhh...you realize that's high school game film, right?

Yup, I said if he played like that Haters & Mediots would go wild how we always bounce back 'Next Man Up'

So you haven't watched football since Barry Sanders retired?
Who has been better than Lewis in your opinion? He had the highest elusiveness rating PFF has ever graded out this year.

A couple weeks ago I posted... the 2nd coming of Dion will not be walking through that door any time soon. Trey + Learns to Block = Dion

EDIT:

COMBINE / PRO DAY STATS:

Dion Lewis - 3 Cone Drill 6.9 secs
Trey Williams - 3 Cone Drill 6.84 secs

Dion Lewis - 40 Yard Dash 4.57 Sec
Trey Williams - 40 Yard Dash 4.45 Sec

Dion Lewis - 20 Yard Shuttle 4.18 Sec
Trey Williams - 20 Yard Shuttle 4.12 Sec

Great stat comparison, thanks!

The learn to block piece is a pretty big caveat though hehe, I think in his scouting report that was one of his weaknesses... not that I put a hell of a lot or stock into those reports seeings how they have been so incredibly wrong on so many occasions
