It's frustrating that a lack of personnel can hamper play calling so much that it makes evaluating anything outside the OL a difficult task. That's why it's also hard for me to hop on the Blame AVP wagon - if his play calling is being restricted because our line of 6 can't block 4.... Wtf are you supposed to do as a playcaller?
AVP gets an "incomplete". Hes totally hamstrung. Line sucks and Brisket is an average, journeyman backup and the WRs are nothing to write home about.

For those that have weak stomach’s, you may want to turn away now…

- 8th fewest pass attempts in the league, yet they've surrendered the 8th most sacks, for a 3rd-worst sack rate of 12.5%.

- Have been blitzed just 12 times, which is 7th fewest in the league, they have the 5th highest pressure rate, at 30.2%

- Thursday night Jacoby Brissett dropped back 23 times, was pressured 12 of those, and sacked 5 of them. For Drake Maye, it was 12 dropbacks, 5 pressures and 2 sacks.

The Patriots O-Line Situation Has Done the Impossible: It's Actually Gotten Worse
Yup - high level stats never tell the story. The devil is in the details as they say.

Brissett as well as Stephensen have DL in their face in a second or 2 on so many plays.

It does not. Brissett is an average QB at best. However, a bad OL means worsening the success odds for your QB significantly and there is no reason to expose a rookie QB to that.

The lack of QB can also hinder play calling.. we know the line situation. Aside from the that the limits on the signal caller can also hamper what an OC can call. As I've posted we are gaining nothing by continuing to trott Jacoby out there. Once we can get the players back for the line to be at least mediocre we should see improved offense I'd imagine. I wouldn't have minded Josh either. However he's loyal to Bill. Where Bill ends up expect Josh to be there.
Great, we all know Jacoby isn't a good QB. There are a lot of moving parts that should be addressed before installing a raw rookie into the QB spot.

Zero issues with red shirting him until those things are fixed. I don't want another Mac Jones or Bryce Young under center

You don't have to worry about that, neither of them was ever a quality NFL prospect, Maye is.

That's why I mentioned solidifying the line. Injuries constant line up changes..rookies playing out if position.. yeah all that.. this was supposed to be a better product, than last season.. keep up at this pace those seats will have cobb webbs.. at Bobby's place by week 10.

I've said personally the roster was incomplete.. can't gadge anything really when the OC can't utilize his entire play sheet.. the QB isn't average the QB SUCKS.

You can argue chicken or egg or you can acknowledge that they all need to perform better. I'd give all 4 spots a failure rather than give anyone an incomplete. More than AVP I'd say maybe the WRs deserve the incomplete but I'm still calling it a fail can't one of them step up like Henry or Rham who are performing despite failures elsewhere.

I don’t think he sucks I think at one point he was really good but I think he’s done now,
For whatever reason he doesn’t trust his arm and is scared to death to try throwing it.

TE and RB can still put up numbers in a broken bad passing game. WRs are another matter. What has T. Hill done since Skylar Thompson took over?

I look at his throwing mechanics, his vision, his accuracy. I get it it not all his fault the line sucks too. I used to be optimistic on Jacoby I really thought we have better QB play than last season. 368 and 1 TD in 3 games is unacceptable for a starting QB. Andy Dalton starting 1 game had more productivity. We have 39 points on the season.. Dalton put up 36 in one game! If you can't trust your arm then you can play QB in the NFL.

Agree but Mayo and AVP and Wolf need to make that decision and it’s not against the Niners unless it’s garbage time.

Jacoby knows he needs a good game cause Mayes footsteps gotta be ringing in his ears,

Im not against signing Tannenhill if Brissett gets injured.

Hell we should of signed Tannehill or Flacco instead of Jacoby.

I believe Drake will be starting against the Dolphins just my hunch. Jacoby is what he is.. he's not going to wow anyone or do anything of spectacular nature. Yes I would have liked Flacco he played for AVP

Saw this on Reddit, cross posting to here - the Patriots are averaging 2.4 seconds in the pocket per PFR, good for 12th - a time shared by about 5 other teams.

Interesting, as this would suggest the disaster ain't just at OL. I understand this isn't anything revelatory, we're all aware of how slow Brissett is in his reads. Just thought it was an interesting stat.
What a misleading stat !!

Agree he looks terrible now but hes been average elsewhere.

From Evan Lazar Patriots mailbag last week
Between the preseason and his 12 drop-backs last Thursday, Maye’s average time to attempt was 2.38 seconds compared to Brissett’s 2.80-second release time
