We will see how the kool-aid drinkers on this board feel after its all set and doned.I see alot of similarities to last season.Offense that depends too much on the slot and the TEs and a opportunistic defense that gives up tons of yards and waits to get a TO.

How about this as a perspective then, Pats have played on the road against 3 teams with a combined 2010 regular season record of 19-29.
All 3 of those teams in 2011 have putup more than 500 yards on the Pats D.
Howz that for a perspective.

And only 2 of the 3 teams actually WON. Again, Yards without points mean nothing.....

He DaBruinz, keep drinking that kool-aid.It seems like u have forgot the last 2 years as to why this team hasnt won a damn playoffs game!

Except for the part where, you know, it's October and our team is known for improving as the season goes on.

DaBruinz isn't saying they are awesome and are playing great, he is saying he sees some improvement. And the fact that they managed to win this game at all against a pretty explosive offense when their guys were dropping like flies is improvement enough for me for this week.

Stop yapping about last year and the year before. It's this year. No one knows how it turns out. Predict all you want. However, I bet you were one of the ones moaning about what a long day it was going to be about two minutes into today's game.

First, Campbell got 99 of those yards on a garbage time drive at the end of the game with the Pats playing a soft zone. The Pats only really gave up about 245 yards to Campbell before Campbell padded his stats.

Second, even without the Chung INT, the Pats dominated in the second half. If the refs actually called blatant offensive holding, the Pats might have had a few sacks.

Can you clarify when exactly does garbage time start in a NFL game ? I don't see that in the box score.

How many of Brady 50TD's came in garbage time since he padded his stats by throwing TD's when beating Bills 38-7, 5-10, or Redskins 52-7 ?????

Game is 60 minutes, there's no garbage time, get a clue

Here's somthing for you to consider. Welker, Gronkowski and Hernandez, are SIGNIFICANTLY better than the 2010 versions. When all three of them play, the offense has been unstoppable this year. Add in Ridley's emergence and what will hopefully be Ocho's emergence, and I think there are reasons to believe the offense is a cut above last year's version.

Well, a win is a win and the defense appears to be getting better, not worse.

That combined with the fact that they're seemingly making a earnest effort to develop a balanced offensive attack has me pretty optimistic.

Now if only we could stay healthy...

Hey D-money - Keep ignoring reality and making claims you can't support. Not to mention totally missing out why this team hasn't won a damn play-off game since 2007. If you think it was because of the defense not being average, you didn't watch the games.

BTW, do yourself a favor and actually read what is said instead of taking a SWAG at it. No where have I said the defense was "awesome", "great" or "outstanding". But you and Jangles don't seem to understand English..

I do agree that the players should play all 60 minutes, but you do realize the difference than giving up 100 yards when it is really a game vs. giving it with less than 3 minutes left up by three score? The defense shouldn't have given up that drive, but it was all garbage time after the defense did a great job keeping the Raiders out of the end zone all game.

Of course I do, but just because it's garbage time doesn't mean it can be completely thrown out.

I don't understand some of the posters need to just jump all over someone who doesn't agree with them. I don't think the D did that well. I'm sorry if disagreeing with your opinion means that I'm a drooling ******.

Same team guys, Jesus.

Fair enough. Although I watched the second part of "A Football Life" last night and listed to Bill scream at the D for not playing a full 60 minutes. Regardless of what they were playing, they got toasted on that drive.

I agree with that too. I could have sworn I saw holding on that last drive which should have resulted in a safety. I was not a fan of the officiating at all today. Pretty terrible game from the zebras.

These two paragraphs are the only sensible things you've said so far.

I want to record my appreciation for BJGE. Every run was smart and purposeful. He added at least a couple of yards from each contact. He blocked like fury and caught the ball smoothly. This is a player who just keeps getting better and better. :rocker:

Somewhere Jason Campbell is licking his chops to face this terrible defense.I am going with Tedy and picking the raiders.I hope for once that i am wrong and this team doesnt allow another 400 yards of total offense to an opponent.
Hey kid brady i thought they where gonna outscore the bills and wat happened? Also the oakland raiders defensive line is good.Lets just see how much this team wants it after the bills meltdown!
You have to go back to the steelers game last year when this defense played well.I hope they can play like that.
Pats 31-Raiders-38.I hope i am wrong.I would be shock though if Brady doesnt throw close to 300 yards or more.
Bruschi is being objective. He knows this team has holes especially on the defensive side of the ball.
This team may Henne look like a pro bowler. You think Campbell doesnt know where to attack this defense? The defensive backs have been a joke.Giving up huge play after huge play.
Carter can yap all he wants but until its seen on the field then i can start believing it.This defense has just goned backwards.I just hope they start getting stops on the field.
The jury is also still out on McCourty.Butler looked decent in his frst year then regressed.McCourty needs to start balling
Even if he's not what u expected, who the heck is gonna replace him? This defensive line is thin and gets pushed around like rag dolls!!
That just means this defensive line will get shredded some more.Just great!
Everyone is such a kool-aid drinker on this board. The simple fact of the matter is that this defense has stunked big time through 3 games. You wanna see some hope that they can turn it around this week.BB hasnt won a playoffs game in awhile as well.Unless this defense starts showing some improvements then this team will meet its same fate like the last 2 years!
This is the most overrated 3-1 football team. They still cant stop anybody and the offense is a problem when ur wrs are absent and dont make enough plays. Thanks Bill for assembling this lousy defense!!
The defense even with Mayo sucked. Its soft!!This team needs a tougher defensive line. They need a monster at the DE spot.
Flawed team and its gonna show down the road.Cant stop anyone.Cant get pressure.Horrific on 3rd down just like last year.Welker is a great little player but i keep saying it over and over that this team needs more production from the wrs on the outside.Brady seems to eye Gronk too much at times.
Hey Robo dont give me that. This team cant stop anybody.BB has to held accountable for assembling this lousy defense.
Hey Rayclay, its gonna bite them in the fanny once again!Campbell moved the ball down the field the whole game.
Best offense when it has lousy wrs on the outside? You need production.I keep saying it that its gonna bite them in the end.You need to have more production out of Ocho or Branch
Too many homers on this board. This is BB's defense.Lets see how much it improves from game to game. That jets game looks huge considering this team has a division loss already
Campbell looked comfortable all game long.

I am a fan ,a die-hard and i am disgusted at how much this defense has regressed. Some of u here need to stop drniking the kool-aid.The d-line is not that great. The QB on the other side always seems to have a clean pocket.I am sick of it!
I call Bull ****.
If you are indeed a Pats fan, do us all a favor and go root for some other team.

That wasn't directed at you specifically.

*ROFLMAO* It sure as hell was. It was buried in the middle of the paragraph that was a direct reply to me.. You claiming otherwise is a really poor attempt at "Spin" by you..

I put him on ignore about a year ago on my PatsFans experience has been much improved. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

No, it sure wasn't. Believe what you'd like though.

Hes worse than a Pink hat Sox fan, spoiled.
I stayed away from the game thread today and must say I enjoyed the game for once.

Just the pass D was bad? Umm....I think the run D was equally bad today....

Happy with the win.

Posatives:

No turnovers on O

Ridley and BJGE ran the bell very well

Offensive line both run blocked and protected brady well today against a very good and motivated front 4.

Special consideration to Solder again who is impressing as a rookie.

Welker... what more can you say.

Couple more catches for Ocho tonight.

Defense turned the ball over in a couple of key situations and except for a 41 yarder kept Mcfaden in check most of the day.

Negatives:

Pass D once again is this teams weakness (broken record)

To me it seems like alot of teams are now just throwing deep balls and the pats don't seem to play this very well.

Brady didn't have his best game accuracy wise but as i said above (no int's)

I'm starting to wonder if mesko is just an average punter or not. He went ok today don't get me wrong but looking at a truely NFL leading punter up against Mesko, he has a while to go.

All in all good Road win from the pats... on to the jets next week and as much as i hate to say it, Go ravens this week.

No, it sure wasn't. Believe what you'd like though.

Any intelligent person reading that would say that it was aimed at me since you included it in the entire paragraph. You claiming otherwise is a joke.

Don't think I tried to put anything in your mouth. That statement was directed at anybody who though the defense should be credited for anything more than catching a pass. I'm pumped it happened, but Campbells terribleness is to thank for that, not the defense.

Don't jump to conclusions. You'll look more intelligent.

Thought you did. All DaBruinz mentioned was that our D had a positive step, whereas you mentioned that he had crowned them as awesome.

I am glad that the D did hold up given the absence of key players. McF was shredding other D and I am happy that we contained him.

I am actually thrilled that we got a sound W. After all, isn't that what matters?

My thrill is however held in check due to the injuries to Mayo and by the plays of some of our defensive players.

A win on the road is always good.

Just the pass D was bad? Umm....I think the run D was equally bad today....

They had a couple of bad moments (The 41 yard McFadden run and the 30 yard Ford end around). But, beyond that, they did well.. Bush was 8 for 26 and McFadden was 13 for 34. That's 21 for 60..

Both the long runs were in the 1st half. In weeks prior, the Raiders continued to run the ball despite being behind.

Were they great? No. Not by a long shot. But they got better as the game went along..
