Patriots and Marshall have mutual interest

Plus, we have Devin Lucien on his cheap rookie contractwaiting in the wings on the PS who is 6'2". His Sr year at ASU he had 66 catches for 1,074 yards and 8 TDs.

He already has a 1 year head start on Marshall for knowing the route tree in NE.

.
If my choice is Lucien or Marshall I'm going Marshall no hesitation.

Also Marshall has worked with Josh before so that kinda nullifies the head start. As I said before I don't see the fit but let's not start saying Lucien is the reason.

WHY?

Marshall turns 33 in 2 weeks. He is going to want big bucks. He is going to want to fly to NY every Tuesday to film Inside the NFL. He is going to have to talk about things every week on that show that BB will not want him to address.

Meanwhile Lucien is 23, knows he route tree after (by game 1 of this season) over 16 months in the fold and has an untapped upside potential.

Most importantly.....exactly WHAT improvement do the Patriots desperately need at the WR position?????

Throw the extra money at Hightower, please.

.

We are comparing Devin Lucien to Brandon Marshall? LOL.

Absolutely NOT.

But for the Patriots only one WR can catch a pass on each throw (unless tipped). We are stocked at that position.

You want to take up money for Brandon Marshall that could go to Hightower?

Brandon Marshall would be a 3rd nipple on this team.

And Lucien isn't on Inside the NFL every Tuesday night in the season.

Need any more reasons?

You saw the DUI video, right? Plus a four game suspension...if you're looking past that, Marshall is also worth a sniff.

If he wants the same money Floyd wants, maybe - - with alot of contract language that can allow the Pats to cut him without pain...........

Who here would like to send him a birthday card in 2 weeks when he turns 33?

This ain't 1992, kids. There is a salary cap. And Hightower is at risk of leaving.

IMHO, Marshall is going to the Giants. He'll fit in there much better and they can use him in Cruz' absence. He can keep his Manhattan apartment and walk to the Showtime studios on Tuesday night.

The talk about him going to NE is absurd. Too many kids in here are gobbling up Volin's tweets and looking at football cards.

Marshall and Edelman would be our top two WR. Hogan and Mitchell would be a great 3,4. Amendola or rookie or Lucien would round it out. Very nice group.

I actually like him a bit since he straightened out from the bipolar disorder.

But as for age, need and financial outlay, I'll have to say No Thanks.

I just don't see the need. Unless he's willing to come here dirt cheap, no.

And you would give him money that could go to keeping Hightower?

Are we as desperate at WR as we are at LB?

And you think BB is ok with this guy gossipping on the couch on national TV every Tuesday afternoon (taped) flying down and back to NYC during the season?

Respectfully asking, have you thought this out?

If the Pats re-sign Floyd for a show-me contract, I simply don't see the need (on many levels) to pay big bucks for Brandon Marshall.

However, I don't get the vitriol some are throwing at him in the other thread. Even in this day and age - but ESPECIALLY in the sport of football - what he publicly divulged and has become a national spokesman about is admirable. This guy has had incredible courage and selflessness to do what he did. He could have simply gotten his treatment and kept quiet. But he chose to be a role model and actively support others. Good on him.
I have a hard time believing that Devin Lucien is anything more than a PS guy who could top out as Chris Harper or Brian tyms

I'm with you.

I am the complete opposite of what some of the folks in the other thread are writing. They are dissing the guy as a person and hyping his ability as a player to fit in with the Pats.

I am saying this guy is a freaking HERO for what he has done courageously (just look at some of the snark in that other thread thrown at him for his mental condition) but he simply does not fit in with the New England Patriots.

lol at people believing idiot. He's just looking to get quoted.

I would wish the Mods to please changed the thread title include "....acccording to Volin".

Yeah respectfully. Right.

We have money for Hightower it's not him or Marshall or Hightower or anyone else. They have $60M to spend but they won't overspend for Marshall. Hightower they would just slightly overspend for but they're totally independent.

If Floyd signs here for the discount (especially with his situation), let Lucien get 4 games experience. Kick the tires on the kid.

Worked out pretty freaking well for the QB situation last year.

At least the Pats would know what they have and it wouldn't be in a do or die situation.

You do realize I don't actually want Marshall. Just saying a guy with zero production has little to do with my reasons.

I commend Brandon for his valiant work on managing his BPD and helping others who struggle with the disorder. Managing any PD takes a ton of mental energy. And that's the rub. I wonder if he can mentally handle the riggor of playing for the Pats and continue to manage his BPD. We've heard multiple stories of players saying how playing for the Pats is unlike playing elsewhere, so his success in handling his disorder with his career may not carry over to New England.

Regards,
Chris

I prefer Michael Floyd.....he is younger, has something to prove, and will come on our terms....and doesnt have ....serious issues....

I would think it is "either" Floyd or Marshall. Unless Amendola is gone...

IMO - I think Floyd really wants to stay with Patriots regardless of $$. Marshall probably more expensive. Didn't he say that he don't want to be a "rental player"?

IMO - I think Marshall ends up with the Ravens. Smith is gone and they need a vertical WR.
