Also, I was wrong in one of my predictions for the offseason. I honestly thought they would start talking with Talib before Edelman. Curious that we're not getting similar reports about Talib so soon before he hits the open market.

Didn't they talk with Talibs agent at the combine? I think I remember reading that.

FWIW, Edelman can talk with teams as of Saturday, but cannot sign with anyone other than New England until after free agency begins. He can re-sign with the Patriots at any point.

They did meet with his agent, but that doesn't necessarily mean about Talib, he may represent several players on our team. (not sure who his agent is)

No doubt in my mind that re-upping Edelman should be priority #1 on offense. I'm pretty sure I'd prefer to have him and Amendola, but if it's a definite that BB feels he can't keep both, sign JE and trade DA.

The team has to decide by March 11 whether to keep Amendola. I expect that the team will keep him no matter what happens with Edelman, but there is an option open if the team acts quickly on Edelman.

IF WE RE-SIGN EDELMAN BEFORE MARCH11, there is the possibility of cutting Amendola and adding a downfield receiver from free agency. To some, it isn't clear that Amendola is worth $8-9M of new money over the next two years. Others think that it is a no-brainer to keep Amendola.

I think that is because Talib flapped his trap about wanting to get "Top Market Money"..

Well, that's not been confirmed yet. There was a report about it, but nothing that I've seen indicates Talib contributed to it. Either way, this is good news about Edelman.

If so, that would make it Edelman's fault.

One good thing is that the Patriots are not dealing with Welker's
agent. Edelman is represented by Brady's agent who has been
quite reasonable with the Patriots in the past.
