This idea has been kicked around in a few threads, and I wanted to develope it further.

If the Pats wait until teams pin themselves against the cap, they may be able to pull some pretty good RFA. It isn't a bad idea. Obviously, this action warrents a signifigant waiting period, however it could be very profitable. Here are a few RFA that would be worth looking at.

Ricky Manning Car.
Kevin Curtis StL.
Josh Brown Sea
Kelly Washington Cin.
Cato June Ind
LaBrandon Toefeild Jax.

Some of these may have signed, but NFL.com wasn't updated. The point is there is plenty of quality out there. I love Kevin Curtis and Kelly Washington. Either would be a great pick up for WR.

I'm pretty sure Curtis re-signed with the Rams.

I don't think any of them have signed, I haven't heard of them doing so anyway. I really wish Clayton would update his cap page, he hasn't done so since the spending spree started.

Do you guys think Curtis would be just sick in our offense? He should be very affordable if not yet signed. No doubt a huge compliment to Branch. IMHO.

I agree. I never understood why we drafted Bethel instead of Washington. At the time, I thought that Washington would have been the better pick. But then I thought well, BB/Pioli must have seen something that I didn't see. I'm no draft guru.

Fox updated 22 hours ago no Curtis signing.

I have a funny feeling that back in 2004 , during the draft Belichick wanted to take a chance on someone.. And I think that some one was Kelly Washington, though I would take a chance on him..

I don't know. Everybody has A LOT of cap space and the big spending period is over with. I think there will be more teams hunting in the bargain bin this year after the draft....

June is a 1st rd comp, so forget about him.

THAT'S what it was. I knew I remembered reading something about him a while back.
A First Round tender is a re-signing for all intents and purposes.

Tendered RFA's aren't generally the guys teams are looking to unload even if they are up against the cap. These are youngsters, and they belong to their club unless they are signed to an offer sheet by another team before April 16th that their team does not match. After April 16 they are no longer FA at all. They either play for their tender or watch games on TV. I suppose a balky one might be available in trade, but why would you want him?

Oh ok so only about 2 weeks left to tender. Got ya. Kelly Washington may be worth a 3rd rounder. He would fill a hole @ the #3 slot.
