Interesting stat on how well the Pats O line is doing as we enter week 3.. not sure how much stock can be put into what looks like some very subjective standards, but my eyeball test says things are much better, this confirms it...

Surprised to see the Rams and Ravens so low, and Arizona so high.

Pass blocking is no doubt better. Run blocking on the other hand…

They have been disappointing in the run game as well.

Campbell has looked good through 3 games. The silence around his performance speaks volumes. Needs to figure out the stunts. I'm sure that will come with experience.

Jared Wilson has been very good as well.

Moses had some trouble with TJ Watt but the top guys in the league are going to make plays. I thought Moses did ok all in all, he was good enough for the Pats to win. It wasn't Moses fumbling g the ball.

Onwenu isn't worth the money but he's mostly held his own.

Bradbury... eh. He's a stop gap but serviceable.

And the OLine playing the same 5 guys every week is a huge help. Last year it felt like an entirely new line every game

It's early but they have clearly improved, and that's with a brand new line up and 2 rookies on the left side. They should continue to improve throughout the season as they learn to play together, but they are also going to have to show they can play through injuries and with replacements. If they want to they can finish building this line in next year's free agency and draft, as it's loaded with really good right tackles, you can always get a really good C/OG prospect on day 2, I would say they can replace Onwenu in free agency, but if he's playing well that doesn't make sense because you will have to pay a premium for his replacement. Overall things are definitely looking up.

Sack totals are high because Mac holds the ball and takes the sack if he can’t eventually run out of trouble. He needs to throw the ball away and live to fight another day.

The rushing attack has been middling but also cursed with penalties, fumbles and fewer opportunities from self inflicted wounds.

The line is starting two rookies on the left side and 4 new starters total. Rhamondre and Henderson are averaging 4 yards a carry, Drake is holding the ball for a way too long time… fix the mistakes and everyone will look better.

Mac?

12 sacks have only totalled 48 yards. The majority of them are only a couple of yards different than thrown it away.
If my memory serves, we have converted first downs after a number of the sacks. 25% of them were in 3rd down where throwing it away wouldn’t matter.
Overblown criticism.

IMO Onwenwu went from being our best lineman to being our 5th best and I don't think his play has changed at all. His play this year has been the same as last year. The other 4 are just better than him and night and day compared to their counterparts from last year.

Credit to Vrabel, Cowden, and the OL coaches for getting Campbell, Moses, Wilson, and Bradbury and getting them on the same page so quickly.

It's early and suspect at points this year Bradbury and Moses age will rear it's ugly head but for now it's a complete reversal.

Also their age obviously means this is still something we very much need to invest in this off-season again too.

I was merely explaining why sack totals were so high in regard to the OLine, not so different from 2001.

But yeah… we also don’t Maye taking unnecessary shots… so not unwarranted criticism. Less is better, especially when throwing it away is an option.

All I can say is that this board would be so pissed if we had Travis Hunter right now. He'd be useless as has been in Jacksonville.

As of right now Campbell was the right choice.

Lamar is on pace to be sacked 68 times
He's taken some really bad sacks. He implodes when the game is on the line.
