OT: Titans Fan Wants Brady

You’d make a trade like that conditional with incentives.

Pats of course would require Mariota back at a minimum as they would no longer have a starting QB. (Hoyer isn’t one anymore)

Good points

66% completion rate/4,355 passing yds/29 TDs/Pro Bowl/11-5/1st round bye.
I don't care if he's 81, let alone 41, a 4th rounder is, in fact, absurd and a 6th rounder is idiotic. Well-done...

No it’s not. Teams aren’t going to give away first rounders for 41 year old QBs who can’t carry a team anymore. If you were to trade him straight up for a draft pick you would get a 3rd rounder max

Tom can't carry a team anymore? What do you think happened this year?

With the right talent surrounding him Tom is still a top QB and top QBs either get paid or fetch draft picks.

You make the picks conditional.

I don’t think he carried the team. He needs more help. He’s still a top QB yes but he’s old. Age plays a factor into what type of draft pick you would receive

That’s why you make the trade conditional.

Brady meets the cliff- it’s the basic 4th rounder or whatever it is. Brady still a top QB like this year- Pats get a lot more than that back. Win-win.

Was looking at some other teams' boards tonight and there's a thread on the Titans' board questioning what it would take for them to get Brady, and some of the reactions are certainly amusing:

Rumor - What Will We Give Up For Brady?

The OP is getting grief for starting the thread, but the comments are kind of funny. Always interesting to read the perspective from other teams. There's another thread pondering moving on from Mariota, so it appears the fan base is getting more restless than I would have expected there given how much Vrabel seemed to have turned things around.
Hell, it would seem many of our fan base on some days would gladly give Brady away. If we can’t be happy with what we’ve got, imagine being a Titans/Fins/Jets/Bills/Cards/Bengals/Redskins/Vikings/Broncos/Niners/Jags etc fan. Life has got to be reaaaaaaaly unfulfilling.

Every QB needs help. Even Tom.

It also depends on the contract situation. Cheap deal and signability influences the pick

Either way TN would not fork over a long term contract and a 1st rounder. It would be one or the other.

Oh, come on Robert, this offense is star studded. We’ve got a reach for a rookie RB that is giving us UDFA value, our #1 receiver is recovering from knee surgery, and is old. Our savior at WR bailed Tom out all year while he got a handle on things. Those things sadly ended up including drugs. Our All-Pro TE seems like a shell of his former self, and the rest of the WR group is full of jags. And you know Mr. Weathers? Their backs and shoulders are incredibly tired for carrying our bum ass, grandpa qb all damn season. What fan base wants a QB like Brady on the rosemter? Yuck!

Brady will never don another jersey except the one he is wearing now, and when does exit the game he will forever be linked to this franchise in some capacity.. Mr. Kraft will reward him and BB who have helped him turn this from a laughingstock to a dynasty, then there is the increased value of the franchise.
Hopefully they bring him back annually to give a primer to whoever replaces him on how to read defenses and how to react....
One story from Patriots Reign by Michael Holley. In early 2001, in the weight room, Brady was educating the defensive players on what a QB looks at when he comes to the line. A new free agent asked, "who was that guy" and when told it was the backup QB, was shocked because of his knowledge.
Second thing which is why I hope they bring him back is unrelated, sort of. Mayock and Ron Jaworski used to do an Xs and Os show on ESPN, early on Sunday mornings. Sometimes they would meet with QBs or players and talk about it. One QB ( unnamed for obvious reasons) said that after meeting with Jaworski for 30 minutes, he learned more than he had from his 3 quarterback coaches in the NFL, and the guy was supposedly a 5 year veteran....

Of course every QB needs help. But I think Tom needs more now than he did at 35.

Contract cheap or not. There’s a ton of risk forking over a 1st rounder for someone about to enter their age 42 season. I can’t see see a team doing that under any circumstance.

I don’t remember mayock being on it, so I don’t know if I’m thinking of the same show, but I used to love that show nfl playbook. I think jaws was on it with Merrill hodge

You're right, mixed them up....but ESPN screwed the pooch by letting them go and cancelling the show..

Considering age. 4th rounder max would be fair. I don’t think a 6th is absurd
Lol it's not apples to apples.. he's worth just about everything right now to the Patriots chasing glory with no long term backup...to the Titans probabaly a 3rd/4th rounder... ridiculous to talk about lol.. got a kick out of the Titan board though

So, now it's a 3rd rounder? What happened to your 4th and 6th? Can't carry a team anymore? Keep going, you're digging yourself deeper into absurdity with every post. Hey, I understand he's 41 and he wasn't the league MVP as he was a year ago, but he's still very good and will be for awhile.

Nobody said he still wasn’t very good. And I said 4th rounder max would be fair. But I think the max you would get from a team is a 3rd rounder

A straight up trade for Mariota might get the deal done. If TN were to throw in a mid round pick, even more likely..

Hypotheticaly, most teams that would be in a position to trade for Brady are a few years away. Don’t think that is a match that would benefit either. Patriots always in contention is his best fit.

Maybe it might of been Jacksonville this season before they won their superbowl and ended up imploding afterwards.

As far as a team like Denver that traded for Manning, that had all the pieces in place, just don’t see it this upcoming season.

He retires a Patriot, hopefully with 1 more superbowl win. Or 2

Brady to Jacksonville this offseason would likely make the Jaguars a top 2-3 favorite for the AFC next year, along with the Chiefs and, maybe, the Steelers, Colts or Chargers.

They’d need another WR to get open underneath in case Lee didn’t return to form (maybe a trade for Amendola), but you’re right. That would be a very dangerous team with Brady at the helm.
