Well so much for the emotional lift of Ben returning early from his latest medical crisis. Just threw the 6-0 game away. JAX can only manage a 42 yard FG off the turnover but it's now 9-0 with 4:26 left (because JAX decided to leave the door open just a crack by refusing to run any time off the clock...)

Woohoo $156 in my pocket! Thank you Jag D

Well Ben just almost threw another pick on 4th down and now he with 3:25 left the valient warrior is wincing and clutching at his abdomen... and Cowher looks like he is ready to implosion spit....

That's it - Ben returns for one more series and throws an incomplete to Ward and a beaaautiful completion to a JAX DB that he almost ran in for a TD. Looks like the JAGS will take the classy road out taking the knee on the 3 to close it out.

Gonna be a tough year for the Steelers but hopefully they will continue to do some serious damage on D along the way.

Still gotta like Peyton next week at home vs. Byron, but this JAGS D could put a real dent in the Colts karma.

Early take: Jags will pulverize the Colts next week. Two top notch corners, two impact LBs, two top ten DTs, a sadistic safety; it adds up to a physical beatdown. Even if the Colts pull it out it will be pyrrhic. There will be alot of pain on that field next Sunday.

Yes, but they will be taking Byron on the road with them and that's like a handicap on offense. Either way though the Colts are gonna know they were in a football game for a change. Tough day to be a rookie RB.

When healthy Ben's the #2 QB in the NFL. But he's either a drama queen or Mr. Glass. His nickname should be "china doll".

I'm with the other's that say number 2 in the NFL???

But on subject I really doubt he had a 104 temprature. This is the "drama" that is professional sports. Michael Jordan perfected this. I think he had more games where he rose from his death bed and scored 50 points and ran around jumping around ect with things that would kill a normal man. They have the best medical care money can buy but some things like a 104 temp you wouldn't even be able to focus on normal things let alone playing a NFL game. It is an exaggeration to show what "heroes" and "gutsy" they are. I'm calling BS.

I just posted this in another thread before I saw this one. I didn't know they were reporting he was sick before the game. I can't believe Cowher put him in:

"The thing is, Ben was sick, hurt & rusty. I cringed for him several times while the Jaguars (who look awesome on D) were drilling him into the ground. Why the hell would Bill Cowher put him in that condition into that game when Charlie Batch played pretty decently last week? Why not take him out at half time? He couldn't throw deep and they knew it! You could certainly couch it in terms of he tweaked HIS TWO WEEK OLD APPENDECTOMY and therefore, we didn't want to chance further injury. Instead they did just that, ended up with an embarassing loss, and for what? That was the worst coaching I have seen in a long time. And someone here said he threw the receivers under the bus? He should throw himself under the bus for putting Big Ben into that game."

As long as the Jags are all beat up by Christmas Eve (can you hear me Santa Claus?) I'm all for it!!

Make no mistake about it Deb - the fragile warrior inmate is running the asylum. In Pittsburgh's first offensive series Ben convinved the Chin to throw the red challenge flag on a play called an incompletion along the JAGS sidelines even though the replay clearly showed the ball was ripped out of the receivers hands before he hit the ground as acknowledged by the mediots in the booth. Then the ref calmly talked Cowher out of it for 2 minutes - which the NFL surprisingly said is perfectly legit - you can change your mind after throwing the flag - so why not do that all the time just to test the limits of that rule.

Ben rules the roost in Pittsburgh. He wants to play, he plays. He wants to challenge a call, he signals his HC. He sucks donkeyballs and Cowher blames his WR's. It's almost Manning/Dungyesque. Can you imagine Brady telling BB what decisions to make or how to do his job? Can you envision BB shielding his QB from criticism by pointing fingers at his other players? Cowher seemed to have finally gotten it last year after years of abuse under BB's heel. He stopped whining and letting his players make excuses and even his spitting was under control. Post winning his ring Cowher is reverting to form.

Cincy is a tough road game on our dance card right after Denver, but they are already piling up big injuries and face Pittsburgh Sunday who will need a big time bounceback against them in order to right the ship. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Well, I missed the start of the game. If this is the case then they deserved the big fat L. I couldn't believe Cowher didn't take him out at halftime. It is kind of refreshing to see the spitting back.

It is quite an exaggeration to suggest that the Ben-Cowher dynamic is anything like Manning-Dungy. Ben has lobbied in the past to play sooner than scheduled (like last year's Jax game) and Cowher has had the final say... Ben even said to the media multiple times last week that it is Cowher's decision on whether he starts. It is a good thing if Cowher takes input from his star QB because we all know Cowher's playoff gameplanning abilities in the pre-Ben era.

And while Ben was off yesteday, it is absolutely true that the WRs did not do their job last night, and deserve blame, along with the O-coordinator. (Notice that in the pst-game Ben blamed no one but himself, and even gave credit to his Oline who got trucked.) Mathis and Williams were playing man and short-zones most of the game, how much separation did the receivers get all night? None. After the first series, the offensive gameplan was garbage -- typical Cowher vanilla. Run OT left, run OT right, out-routes and skinny posts. Jax knew what was coming.

Ben deserves little blame for the loss yesterday... he didn't look good but he had very few options in the run/pass game. The coaching staff wanted to protect him and in doing so cut off his arms with a terrible gameplan. How come no play action after the 1st series? Why no 3WR sets on 1st down? The last thing you said was completely on -- Cowher reverting to form -- but for very different reasons.

FWIW, Cowher clarified today that Ben's temp before the game was 100.4, not 104, as we all thought.

I didn't think Ben looked as though he had a temp as high as 104, so it makes sense. He was running a fever though.
