OT: Simmoms ... Atlanta Front Office Does Not Want Bill.

Prediction he goes to Giants with a Co HC title.
It’s too late in the process to fire Daboll, but the Giants would love to bring Bill on.

If Bill doesn’t get hired this off-season then Daboll will be on an awfully hot seat next season.

I was an IBWT guy because the your eyes told you the product he was producing was worthy of trust, with strong coaching and talent acquisition in all three phases in the game, toughness, intensity, discipline.

Going into a season with MP and JG steering the ship, poor discipline on the field, taking a 1st round QB who had a good rookie season and zeroing him out two seasons later, not even being good at special teams, all this breaks one's trust.
Same.

Can you explain what you mean by this?

After the 2021 debacle in the playoffs, he clearly went about rebuilding the defense and making it faster. To me this screams longterm.

Even the pick of Gonzalez and Keion White is a longterm move. He could've done much more expedient moves to fill needs.
I was referring to the coaching staff, including himself. He built this incredible dynasty, but didn't set up the staff to succeed. He didn't develop young staff talent or replace it when it was lost, but instead brought back his old buddies matt, bill, and joe.

I was referring to this:

Who said 2/3 of the league would be clamoring to grab him? I don't remember seeing that.
You wouldn’t.

Harbaugh just cancelled 2nd Falcons interview. Which almost guarantees he’s taking the Chargers job. So that gets one obstacle out of Bill’s way

you wrote why they will be losing organizations because they would take slowik over a guy like BB

i
? I was referring to Atlanta. Not all organizations. Do I think hiring Slowik would basically how why Atlanta keeps doing Atlanta things? Yes. You have Belichick right there, and you're going to hire a guy with one yr under his belt as an OC. The other guy is Raheem Morris. Both poor decisions, IMO, when Belichick is there.

Belichick can't reconstitute a coaching staff next year. They will all be gone to the winds by that point. This is it

Well of course the Falcons head office is reluctant to take on BB…. He’d want to clean house and they would lose their jobs.

I’m more sure BB can return to HC w/o full control and I dunno how many NFL teams wants to hand over full control to a 70+ year old. Might be difficult to find a fit.

So nothing is happening in ATL until next week since they're conducting 2nd interviews w/ Glen & Johnson after Sunday's games. Second interviews also scheduled w/ Harbaugh, MacDonald and Weaver. Interview with Vrabel is this week. It sounds very strange that they're conducting 2nd interviews with 8 out of the 14 candidates. Typically, a short list is 3 to 5 candidates. It could just be that some of the initial interviews were via zoom and they want an in person one as well.

One Interview conducted:
Joe Brady, OC
Brian Johnson, DC
Ejiro Evero, DC
Steve Wilks, DC
Brian Callahan, OC (hired by TEN)

Pending:
Mike Vrabel, ex-HC

Had or will have 2 interviews:
Bill Belichick, ex-HC
Jim Harbaugh, HC (hired by LAC top candidate)
Ben Johnson, OC
Bobby Slowick, OC
Raheem Morris, DC
Aaron Glenn, DC
Mike MacDonald, DC
Anthony Weaver, DL, AHC

Bill is still the odds on favorite to land the job.
Next Falcons CoachOdds
Bill Belichick (ex Patriots HC)+150
Jim Harbaugh (Michigan HC)+425
Raheem Morris (Rams DC)+500
Ben Johnson (Lions OC)+750
Mike Macdonald (Ravens DC)+800
Bobby Slowik (Texans OC)+1000
The Field+750
Looks like it's between Belichick, Vrabel and Johnson?

I see a lot of people using age as an excuse.

Maybe teams don't want to have full control over to a guy who brought a franchise from dynasty to 4-13 under his management. Unless he brings Tom Brady with him, Belichick is just another HC - and a piss poor GM.

I don’t think it’s an excuse. I think it’s truth ; what NFL team wants to dump (presumably) the most trusted employees in order to snag BB for a few seasons ?

The idea BB is nothing at all w/o Brady is laughable. And, from 2000 to 2016, BB was easily a top 3 GM in the League. The drafts, trades, and FA pickups were fabulous. For a while, he went a decade with hits on first rounders.

If I'm Atlanta, I'd clean out the front office and I'd ask Bill if he'd be interested in building a program to set them up for the next decade, and could he coach the first three years with an identified successor(s) in mind for a clean handoff. Maybe bill would be intrigued by the challenge of building the next great team? If atlanta keeps the same clowns in the front office, and picks vrabel or some other candidate, they'll be looking again in 2 or 3 years

What makes you believe that Bill can do any different than Vrabel or some other candidate that would not require a succession plan or a total redo of their entire personnel and philosophy?

Please don't use 6 rings as the reason. It's pretty conclusive that the dynasty died 4 years ago.

Teams have to comply with the Rooney Rules, what’s the rush?
